Heel brake?

I have a pair of Bauer X40Rs I was given as a gift and was wondering if it would be possible to attach a heel brake to them. I was taught to rollerblade with them.

I have no proper intention of playing Roller Hockey, and hope to use the roller skates as a means of travel and a way of skating when I don't have time to hit the ice (especially travelling between classes). Any idea if it's possible to make such a modification on the Bauer Hi-Lo Chassis?

I know this sounds awfully wimpy, but, *shrugs* comfort zone.

You can attach a heal brake to any skate if you got the tools to drill holes through the aluminium chassis. Otherwise, I don't believe any skates come with pre drilled holes.

The couple times I player roller hockey I wish I had a heel brake. The roller hockey players can laugh all they want lol I'd rather be comfortable and look stupid than be totally uncomfortable and look cool.

I personally believe the heel brake would do more harm than good.

The situations that come to mind are tripping yourself while crossing over, uneven balance at speed, the brakes being more or less useless at any sort of speed anyway.

You're much better off going down to a local skate rink and practicing using your leg muscles to stop yourself and potentially even practicing a hockey stop, much safer & a lot more effective.

If anyone really wants to use a heel brake, I found a solution!

Both the Seba Brake and the Powerslide Road Hog (the second one is better) fit standard 608 bearing chassis - the Road Hog even explicitly states that they fit Hi-Lo Chassis and Hockey Skates on certain sites.

Depnds om where you play as wel. I know the Rinks near me have a rule against heel brakes for skates used for hockey.

The feel of roller hockey will never directly translate over to ice no matter what skate. You can most certainly safely use roller skates with no heel brake. Just learn how to stop.
