Glove fit similar to Bauer Supremes

Thanks for the tip althoma. These actually seem to be exactly what I am looking for. My only gripe is that the only option in 14 inch is black/ white. I see there is navy/ white left in 15 inch (I like how the navy looks). What do you advise I go with- 14 or 15 inch? I am 14 inch in:

-Bauer vapor apx/ apx2

-Easton HSX

-Reebok 30K

I wear 15 inch in:

-Warrior covert DT2 Bone X- as I have said before, I love how this glove wraps my hand (I suspect it is a fit similar to Projekt), and the finger length seems right (I tried on 14 inch but do not recall how the fingers were- I think that the fingers were fine in 14 inch- they just felt so tight in the hands that I was afraid I would bust through them- who knows though, they may have opened up with time). The tightness of the 14 did not bother me from a comfort standpoint, I was only concerned with durability. Cuffs are like handcuffs though- not as bad as NXG, but nowhere near as mobile as I would like.

With the finger length, I like the gloves to be just a bit longer than my finger tip so that my fingers are protected from slashes, but if there is too much glove at the end of my fingertips, then I feel like it stifles my stick handling as it just gives a sloppy feel overall to puck handling.

I am not concerned with the cuffs being too short, as I wear slash guards anyway.

The ones I have are 14". The outside base of my palm opposite my thumb lines up perfectly with the base of the gloves. The side with my thumb on it is a touch above the base of the glove. My fingers go right to the ends, but I don't like any excess slop in gloves and prefer them to fit as tight as possible without feeling uncomfortable or restricting movement.

I did try on 15" Projekts at one point and there was about a cm or 1/4" of space at the end of the fingers. I personally preferred the fit of the 14" over the 15" Projekts.

Other gloves I currently have are 14" Nike Bauer Supreme One90s (the cuff is more mobile on those than the newer Supremes), 14" Miken Z9 gloves and 14" 2012 Projekt gloves.

While I almost always use 14" gloves, I know not all 14" gloves would work. When the Easton RS II gloves were being cleared out locally I tried them on in 14" and 15" and felt the palm wasn't long enough in the 14" versions (the base of my hand opposite my thumb ended up below the base of the palm) and the 15" felt a little too big. I also tried on the older Bauer Supreme TotalOne gloves in 14" and the fingers felt too short - the fingers of the newer NXG model felt long enough though.

I haven't used the Easton HSX gloves, but tried them on and felt like a 14" would work. I did demo the Vapor APX at a SJ event and didn't have a problem using the 14" version. From what I recall the overall length of the 14" Projekts felt similar to the 14" Vapor gloves so if you're happy with the length of those then I'd stick with the same size in the Projekts.

Thanks again Althoma- I will sleep on it and likely order the 14s then tomorrow. These sound absolutely perfect, I just missed them because I kind if figured that gloves had just evolved for the better in every way since 2011- glad I was wrong since I can't seem to find anything that I am thrilled about in today's offerings. Sure, the selection is good, and I can certainly get by in any number of gloves, but just haven't found that "special" one lol.

So I placed an order for a pair of 14s (black/white) and 15s (navy/ Carolina blue/ white) and got these:

So disappointed- the backhand is so restrictive (and I find the look abhorrent; my favorite gloves for style are the 2011 Projekts), working out the refund now with TSR. So, still on the hunt for 14 or 15 inch Warrior Projekt 2011s if anyone has intel on a pair. (And if anyone wants to take these off my hands at cost, within the next 12 hours, then saves me and TSR the hassle of the pending return). Not trying to knock TSR- I bought a grip of Mako Pro Stock shafts which are unreal; just saying- if you were gonna jump on these gloves too, then just know they are 2012s.

Yeah, those are the 2012 Projekts - I have a pair of those in black. They're still good gloves, but the cuff does feel quite restrictive at first. They break in nicely and are still very protective. The 2011 version has a blooming cuff and already feels more mobile brand new.

I didn't like how they felt on my hand too. There is nothing wrong with them per se, but ya know some gloves just feel right (like my Warrior Covert DT2 Bone Xs), and some just do not have that great feel. I am not even talking about puck or stick feel- just my hands feel nice when I have certain gloves on- I don't get that feeling at all with these.

Well, if you're not happy with them then hopefully someone either picks them up at cost or TSR makes it easy to return them. They were clearly using the 2011 pictures advertising those gloves - the gloves they sent are of equal value, but the fit (they're both snug, but the backroll design is different and the cuff flares open on the 2011 versions) and look is definitely different. Clearly not what you thought you were ordering.

The one positive is you should now have a better idea of the sizing you prefer. While the 2011 and 2012 versions have their differences the sizing as far as the length of the palms and fingers go really didn't change. So now you should know what size of 2011 Projekts to try to find. If you let everyone know what size you're interested in, if a member happens to see a pair they can give you a quick heads up.

If you can't find the 2011 Projekts it does sound from everything I'm reading that the next best option might be the Sherwood Rekker EK15 gloves that Optimus recommended or their predecessor the N12 gloves that you can still find on clearance at some places: From what I've read, the new Rekkers improved the comfort in the fingers. I haven't used or tried on either of those gloves myself, but from reading about them it does sound like they have a contoured fit in the backhand and open up at the cuff. If I were looking at getting new gloves and couldn't find Projekts in my size I'd definitely try to find the Sherwood Rekker or Nexon gloves to try on.

The Warrior Koncept gloves are the same as the Projekt gloves except for the cuff (is blooming, more like the 2011 Projekts). But like the Projekt, those are discontinued. That's why I went Koncept though; I had Projekts and didnt like the cuffs.

I would HIGHLY recommend you get a pair of Sher-Wood Nexon or Rekker gloves. I LOVED the Koncepts and the Nexon/Rekker was just that much better.

I tried on the Rekkers at HM, and just wasn't feeling them. Just didn't have that great feeling that I look for.

BTW, TSR made good on it so I am getting full refund.

I may try to just bake the outside of the cuff of where my Coverts block me, and see what I can do. Not like the Covert DT2 Bone:X's (that I got 25% off from HM) are $800 skates or anything, so if I screw them up then no big deal.

14 inch was the right size for the 2012 Warrior Projekts, so I am guessing 14 inch is what I would want in the 2011 Warrior Projekt gloves.

Were they new or used? They are pretty snug gloves when new. The only other gloves I can think of that might fit your criterea are the old NB One90 gloves. Those will be very hard to find in good condition now though.

NB stands for Nike Bauer. I was typing on my phone earlier and was being lazy. One90 is the supreme glove that came before the One95 and in my opinion is far better than the One95, TotalOne and TotalOne NXG. The cuff was more flexible and the palm was stretch material with a layer of clarino - the finger tips weren't sewn right to the end so it really allowed you to stretch the material and have great grip and dexterity. I'm still shocked that you felt the Projekts were loose - especially a 13" pair. Are you sure the backhand liner wasn't removed or something? I'm a fan of tight gloves and a Projekt that was worn 5 times should feel snug in the fingers and back roll, but open up nicely in the cuff.

Ahhhh ok- when I see NB I think New Balance, forgot that Nike Bauer was the call sign during my hiatus. Those look awesome, interesting how everyone is so nostalgic about this era for Bauer- the one90 and one95 lines especially (for sticks and skates too I notice a lot of people loving these items).

Hard to say if the gloves were modded- the guy is a member over here too (and at sports2k); seemed like a nice enough guy and honest and all. I am thinking that maybe the base of my palm was busting beyond the area where the palm of the glove meets the rest of the glove (base of the palm of the glove), and thus the loose feeling because the glove was not given the opportunity to hug my hand, and my hand was not allowed to sit into the glove. I don't know though- I am not sure of what factors to really look at she seeing what part of my hand is sitting where when I try on gloves. I just consider a couple of factors:

1) can I flex into the backhand without restriction? (30K and these Projekts were the best non 4 rolls for this- sure 4 rolls often have nice loose cuffs, but I hate 4 rolls)

2) when I wiggle my wrists, do the gloves seem to want to fall off? Or, are they just locked in there? (HSX and Coverts were best for this so far)

I rule out 4 rolls because they just feel like I am wearing gloves- they don't feel like an extension of my hand (or nothing, in effect). Plus, the rolls are just so ergonomic ally improper, so I just notice them too much when I am stick handling and shooting. I have no excuse for my passing lol.

So yea, interested to hear shout alignment considerations between hand and mitt when I am trying on non-broken in mitts at the store.

Yeah, if your palm was sitting below the glove palm and into the cuff then part of your backhand would be in the blooming cuff part. That could definitely effect the feel. I would try to track down a pair of 14" Projekts and try those on. It could be a challenge, but you might get lucky.

The other thing is I've seen people cut out the backhand padding on tighter gloves if they found them tighter than they prefer.

I do love those One90 gloves. I have a pair that's pretty beat up, but I still use them from time to time. I don't want to repalm them because part of what makes them so great to me is the stretch palm. Take away the stretch palm and it just wouldn't be the same.

That might actually be a possibility. I mean, I am not that insane about the gloves that I would go out there just to try on the gloves, but if this is an invitation to SJ, then yea, I would love to accept and try to make it work with my schedule. As it stands now, I am in Vegas until the 24th for work, then I go back to Asia on the 30th. So, I'd be sandwiching this in between, which might wear me out, but all good- I will have time to recover upon getting back to Asia.

How does it work? Is there a schedule that I can have a look at, so I can figure flights? And which hotel does everyone stay at? Details like this will help me be able to figure out if I can swing it, which I am definitely interested to do!

@Cosmic When I shook your hand I did notice you had a lower volume type of hand. Bigger than mine but about the same volume wise. I was breaking in those CCMs, I've only used them one other time.

The Projekts he tried on were mine. Not modded and nothing done to them. Barely used. I don' think they are a tight fitting glove. I bought a second pair on closeout to make sure it wasn't a fluke and it felt the same.

Generally, the fingers on warriors are very loose fitting for me with the exception of the AK27s and the Warrior Pro Series.

@x axis- thanks for the feedback. Again, I always just figured I have a mid to high volume hand since I have mid to high volume feet, but I guess that my DNA is expressing itself otherwise. Good to know especially if I see something that I like while I am overseas and may wanna jump on it, I can at least inquire about the volume'ness. So you think 13 or 14 inch is right for me, in a tight fitting glove?

As it stands, I think I am just gonna go a Synergy 80, probably 14 inch and see if I can break in the cuff or get it to slide easier. Could be that the natural break in process will just take care of this for me. Maybe a heat gun to the cuff and just but a little bow in it so It slides easier and I can flex it easier as well.

I need to go back to HM and see where the base of my palm sits, and figure it out for there. Last time I was there they didn't have 13s in HSX on display, maybe they will this time.

A number of people can fit in various sizes unless you are a smaller person like myself.

The glove size you should choose, in your case, has more to do with the gap between your elbow pads and gloves. The 15s in your avatar seem huge. I'd guesstimate you are a 14. There's no shame in bringing in your elbow pads and seeing how they "move" and what space is remaining between gloves and elbows and whether or not you feel comfortable with that. If a glove feels too stiff for you, realize there is a break-in period. Whatever issues you may have with glove fit such as wrist mobility, finger length, volume depth, won't change too much...but stiffness will.

Those first generation projekts are a very strange glove overall. Personally, they don't fit like any other glove I have tried on. Comfort level is fairly subjective though.

This is exactly why I couldn't wear the Projekts; they interfered with my elbow pads (funnily enough, also Projekts). Once I went to the Koncepts with the more open cuff (but still tight on the hand like the Projekts), I had no issues.
