If Reebok is done with hockey what about the Ribcor line?

Recommended Posts

I was curious to what people knew about the Ribcor line once Reebok is done with hockey. Say someone buys a pair of Ribcor skates and loves them and reebok is poof out of hockey next season does that person have to figure out a new skate to like or is it just going to be rebadged as a CCM skate. I though CCM/Reebok was shooting for 3 skate and stick lines like Bauer.

Honestly, the "attack frame" idea on the new tacks seem like the carbon/filament/whatever reinforcements on the 11k/20K/Ribcor. I honestly think we've got our reebok re-badge already.

You could argue, "but the tacks might not fit like rbks," but even rbks don't fit like rbks as the fit has changed every so slightly from generation to generation. No way a 9k user could use the narrower ribcor and vice versa.

Obviously this is pure speculation on my part as I have no inside knowledge and could be completely wrong.

The only thing I would miss is the bloody Pump, The rest of the skate I could take or leave, but the Pump takes up the slack of my tiny ankles and locks them in beautifully.

While the RBK name might go away, the line will continue, labeld as CCM, kind of like when Nike ditched Bauer, they just rolled the Nike skates into a Bauer name. I was talking with te rep the other day about the same thing, They will have 3 different fitting skate lines.

there have been "rumors" for a while that Adidas/Reebok is moving out of the hockey game. As a company they have even restructured their brand and changed their "vector" trademark. It makes sense to keep the skate and consolidate the lines. They have been pushing CCM further to the front and slowly fading Reebok to the rear.

Has there been rumors that RBK will be getting out of hockey or is this just a "what if" question?

No rumors. RBK bought CCM because CCM had signed a 10-yr licenced apparel contrsct with the NHL. When that cash-cow dries up, no reason to be in the hockey equipment business, not much money in that.
