Bauer MX3 vs. Total One Skates: Fit Differences

Recommended Posts

Just tried on a pair of MX3's at my local shop. I used to have the original Total One skates

Width wise the MX3 was ok, but I am a little concerned about the depth. Getting some pressure on the top of my foot before the toe cap starts.

Is the new MX3 much shallower than the original TO?

Would I get a little more depth with a good bake?

Anyone that has had any experiences with either or both of these skates?

The heel lock even out of the box is amazing on the MX3.

There is a little more pressure above the toe cap in the MX3 design. Part of it might be due to the wide flex insert which can be trimmed. Either way get the MX3s, you wont be dissappointed.

Would anyone be able to confirm if the injected lacing system has any impact on the overall volume of the boot in the MX3? Moreso, is the injected lacing taking away from the volume, versus the traditional lacing system in the Supreme 190?

With the injected lacing system you lose a little bit of depth compared to the standard lacing system found in the rest of the line.

It was the complete opposite as NXG's were not deep enough for me and my MX3's are near perfect.

Anyone own or try the TO and MX3? I would seriously consider these skates but I am a little concerned about the depth. Would baking do much in that regard?

The difference is that the facing on the MX3 has more of a curve to it giving the illusion that there's less volume.

The boots are the same dimensions.

For me at least (for Vapors, and hopefully Im describing this correctly), I find that the eyelets are closer to the edge of the facing on the APX2 than they are on the traditional X100/APX1 eyelets, and as a result I get a little bit more volume/lacebite relief in the APX2.

JR, just to be clear. The boot dimensions from the Original Total One to the MX3 have not changed?

When I tried the NXG on when it was released, it felt like it had less volume , and a shallower instep. The MX3 seems similar to the NXG. Maybe if I had the MX3's baked it would make a difference.

The Nexus 8000 felt too roomy. I prefer a snug fit, but am just concerned about my instep. Like I said, I had no problem with the Original TO in terms of width, and depth.

I'm in NXG's now and tried MX3's a few weeks ago. I definitely felt like the MX3's had less volume, but the Bauer rep said it was because of the new facing curving over the foot more. He said once they were baked it would feel better.

I to just came from nxg to the mx3 skates the mx3 had more volume for me the fit was way better and the boot seems to be a bit more roomy over all both skates I have are the same size but the mx3 fit much better I didn't have to stretch them , I had my nxg skates stretched twice , the mx3 skate in my opinion is the there best skate I have ever had when they go on sale I will be picking up another pair , and I also feel I have way more forward flex in the mx3 hope this helps for anyone thinking of trying the mx3 skates
