High End Elbow pad Suggestions?

Recommended Posts

Ended up buying the AX1s. I like how they feel. Secure and sturdy. Should be great after they break in.

I've played both the RBZ and AX1's for about a season in each. Both are fantastic. RBZ gives you excellent mobility and good protection while the AX1's gives you excellent protection and good mobility. You'll be happy with your purchase.

Yeah tried them out today. Felt great. A little big/bulky but very solid and stayed in place. Im happy with them.

Only questionable element if the "stretchy" strap in the middle. I'm hoping that the tension on it keeps up. The front strap is hard as nails. Pretty sure that one has some last-ability.

Anyone have experience with the new Easton Synergy HSX pads? I'm shopping for elbow pads too and was thinking RBZ until I saw these but I can't find much on them.

I just ordered a pair of Reebok 8K Pro. I've heard only good things and need some slash protection. Hoping they aren't too bulky. Currently in a pair of CCM U+ Pro, and they've done a good job, but I want a bit more.

Do you guys have a recommendation for an elbow pad that's not too bulky but decent protection wise. I'm more wanting a more mobile pad. I ended up getting a pair of small warrior white (2010) projekts off eBay a while back because I heard they were best for mobility. I'm a skinny guy and heard they fit larger so thought the smalls would be okay, but just trying them on off ice I found that the neoprene band is really tight. Everything else seems good but that band unfortunately isn't adjustable and is right up tight on my forearm.

Someone offered to trade for makos but I'm weary because I can't find much info on those. Is there anything similar that would be big enough to give me decent protection down low but also be mobile. Just playing beer league so I'm not super concerned about the absolute best protection

I say the same thing every time the mobile elbow pad question comes up. Jofa 9025 or the new RBK equivalent, the 12k. With no bicep pad, they're very mobile and very lightweight.

The 2012 Projekts (blue and grey) are more protective than the 2010 (white) versions, lock your arm in better and fit true to size (so if you normally wear mediums then look for medium 2012 Projekts). Beyond those I'd consider the new STX Surgeon 500 pads in the spring or the CCM RBZ pads. All of those pads are 3 piece pads which offer good mobility and are top of the line pads that should provide good protection for beer league.

I'm still very happy with my Easton Pros. Simple, very mobile and not as bulky as the 3 piece elbows. Hated CCM CLs because of the huge protruding elbow piece.

Hated the 2012 Projekts but the Pro Stock 2010 Projekts (white and black) are as comfy as the 2010 while having more protection. A nice middle ground.

I agree with the CCM RBZ pads. First time I've tried on elbows since I started wearing Projekts where they felt almost as comfortable as the projekts do.

Tried those, didn't like them. Too bulky for me.

Hmmm yeah maybe I will try CCM RBZ's. Don't really want to spend that much though. Are they that much better than the CL's, as in worth the paying extra for?

I guess I could always try the projekts on ice and see if they break in and feel better.. Its just that when i tried them on at home the neoprene band was quite tight against my skin.. Almost seems like it'll rip when I bend my elbow. I wouldn't have thought it would be THAT tight...

IMO the RBZ are leaps and bounds above the CL in terms of quality and function. I wouldn't mess with the CL bows

Maybe you could fix the Projekts by sewing an extension to the band. That might be the simplest solution.

By far IMO the greatest upper body combo for it's weight, mobility and anatomical fit is the APX2 line of protective. (Elbow and Shoulder).

Amazing feel on the ice, full range of motion and featherlight.
