Bauer Stick Advice

Recommended Posts

I remember seeing a video somewhere where they took various sticks and asked too division I players to basically pick out their stick. They couldn't do it in most cases. That goes to show you that the technology in sticks is irrelevant for most people. If you're a pro, maybe, but the average player won't see a different in velocity or accuracy, etc. I go wth what feels good.

That could not be more false.

It was a video I saw and based on an opinion - in no way am I claiming factual scientific data.

It's a lot like golf with the the various shafts and technology in the heads of drivers. To a select view "average" players it might make a huge difference, and to the pros who swing 120mph, it certainly does, but to a weekend hack, it's not likely.

Pure Hockey used to do this with ACHA Club hockey players, and US Jr players. Might be the video you saw.

Those videos didn't ask them to pick out their stick it asked them to pick the stick that they liked the best and guess which one they thought it was. The way they did it was flawed though because some guys were picking sticks because they liked the curve the best which is obviously the choice that would be made.

I think a beginner who hasn't developed a technique wouldn't be able to tell a difference.

However, if the average person has some sort of technique, I think they would be able to tell a difference. In the video, were they comparing low line sticks to top of the line sticks? Or were they comparing all top of the line sticks.

I can probably pick out an Easton stick just on feel.

Well yeah line I said experienced players would be able tell. I think the video was posted above - it was asking players to choose their sticks out of the pack. Some were picking sticks that were half the price and couldn't tell which was their stick. It was a bit flawed because I don't think they matched all the curves but the point is that a good deal of them picked a different stick that they liked and thought was theirs. Is have to watch it again but I think some

May have commented on things like "I like the low kick point" when the Stick had a mid kick point. Things like that.

I think a lot of what a player feels stems from what they THINK they should feel based on what the marketing tells them they should.

There's a good deal of placebo effect.

I'm not saying don't buy the sticks you want. Hell I own a 1x simply because I like the weight and the feel I get with the puck and it doesn't splinter to shit like the

Easton V9e k was using prior to it. I couldn't tell you what the kick point or carbon fiber blends do for my game. Lol
