rocco44 1 Report post Posted January 3, 2016 Hi Mod Squad, Looking for the lightest pants or girdle available on the market w/ moderate support & foam density padding only - NO plastic padding. I play in two (2) no checking / rec leagues. Currently using bauer vapor x60 pants - they are light but I hate the plastic padding - wish they had foam density padding. Any suggestions ? Thanks guys. gerbe3:16 19 Report post Posted January 3, 2016 Probably going to need to go the roller hockey girdle route if you want no plastic. Not sure I would recommend doing that though.
nicker87 47 Report post Posted January 3, 2016 I wouldn't recommend it myself, pants and elbow pads IMO should be really protective. While you may not plan on falling or being hit, you can't control other ppl. There maybe weaker skaters than yourself that fall and take you out or you just don't see a guy coming and you collide. There's a guy on here now looking for pants with beefed up tail bone padding because he bruised his tail bone, it's just not worth not being able to sit right for a few months IMO. Chadd 916 Report post Posted January 3, 2016 I have no idea what "foam density padding" is, as everything has a density and various foams have differing densities. A hard foam like EPP will end up cracking or breaking and offering no protection in the long term and softer foams will not protect you from anything without being extremely thick and bulky. That's why manufacturers use the plastic inserts, they dissipate any impacts much better than any existing foam options.

gosinger 122 Report post Posted January 3, 2016 Made this guide for a friend... Might help you...Thats a good point to start with in regards to girdles, especially the links. My 2c on your list (highly subjective): - Project feels lighter & less protective than TotalONE (Project is my go-to girdle for inline now) - Easton Synergy (black/blue) is missing, would rank it just slightly less protective than the 9k (as it has denser "uppers" but smaller thigh pads)

rocco44 1 Report post Posted January 3, 2016 what about the warrior dynasty girdle ? or the tackla g4000 pro girdle ? thanks for all the intel, comments and responses - huge help and greatly appreciate it!
Chadd 916 Report post Posted January 4, 2016 Tackla girdle has multiple pieces of padding in each location, you can remove some or all of them to customize the amount of protection for each part of your body..
