Comparative Stick Flex by Manufacturer

Recommended Posts

Based on both my experience and comments I hear, there seem to be some differences between manufacturers with regards to stick flex. For example, one manufacturers 85 flex may feel stiffer or more flexible than a different manufacturers 85 flex. I've only used a few brands, but it seems that my Bauer shaft is a little stiffer than my Sherwood (maybe +5 flex difference) and my memory is that my Easton felt similar to my Sherwood. At least amongst the more major brands (Bauer, CCM, Warrior, True, Easton, etc.) is there any general consensus on comparative flex?

I do find Bauer to be a hair stiffer at each flex interval as opposed to other brands (as a general starting point).

I feel that Warrior, True, and STX all play a bit whippier at an 85 flex, as opposed to Bauer's comparable 87 flex.  to me, Sherwood's play right in between all those.  However that's really, really, really, splitting hairs, and I have zero science to back that up, so take that with a grain of salt.

I can't comment on CCM, or Easton as I have used so few of their sticks in recent years.

I use junior sticks, so from my experience, Warrior sticks feel 5-10 flex whippier than say CCM. Within the CCM brand, I find the RBZs feel stiffer than the Tacks and the Ribcore by like 5flex.

I use Junior and Intermediate, and from my experience CCM and Bauer are much more stiff than Sherwood and Warrior. No comments on Easton, haven't used one of their sticks before.

Wouldn't it also depend on the flex profile? I have an SV CCM that's rated 80 and it feels as stiff as my 87 APX2.

Depending on the shot type and style the kick point can make a difference in feel. So it's better to compare similar flex profiles.

I agree about the flex profile. I had a 77 flex Nexus N7000 and it felt like a steel rod compared to my 85 flex True Xcore. Very different flex profiles and I believe it makes such a huge difference.
