When do the online sales generally start?

Recommended Posts

In need of a new pair of skates baaad. I'm trying to avoid a full price tag if possible, I might be able to hold out a month or two, depending on the start of the sale season.

March/April-ish

Where do you get that? If I waited that long there wouldn't be anything left. For online purchases of map products the answer can only be "as soon as there is a replacement product released".

Just experience. I don't have a firm date so I just suggested when I start noticing sales.

Not true.

Manufacturers dictate an online markdown as it gets closer to the replacement product coming out, not when the product is on the shelves.

But once again, stores can mark down product at any time. Manufacturers can set a MSRP - the S stands for suggested.

Yes, I understand our local hardware store (Bauer, CCM dealer) can sell current product for a reduced price they just can't advertise the fact.

SIgn up for the email blasts from three or four of the big shops, they have sales every day....

I do like that idea, I happen to have an extra email account for that kind of stuff. Thanks.

Hate to be that guy but with the new CCM Jetspeed FT1's already announced by CCM does anyone know when we can start to see the original Jetspeeds on sale online? And for a top tier skate like that any guess as to how much of a discount they'll go for?

Edit: they are already on sale on one site for $499 (hockey supremacy). Eventually they will likely be cleared out for $399 or less, but that could take several months to a year and by the time they reach those prices the popular sizes may be sold out. If you fit a less common size then it's safer to wait for the steeper discounts. If you wear a common size and really want the skates you may not want to wait too long.

In some brick and mortar stores, the skate's been on sale for a while now.

they usually drop to around the 600-650 mark for top of the line skates when the new model is coming out, they should go on sale relatively soon online.

Hockeysupremacy in Canada already has the Jetspeed skates marked down to $499 CAD. I imagine they will be discounted further if they don't sell out at that price, but you run the risk of your size selling out if you wait too long.

For example, the long discontinued Mako II skates are now only $379 on that site, but only a few large sizes are left. My more common size sold out when they were $599 in the late summer/early fall. I managed to snag a few pairs for around the current price or less, but it took sone serious searching and using gift cards I purchased at a discount ect and that was last summer. I have been casually searching for more pairs in my size, but haven't seen any new ones since last summer.
