First Win!

Man, tonight was awesome. My hockey team and I each had our first win.

While I didn't register a point (not that it's the focus of me playing) I thought I played better than I did on Monday night. I did better covering my man tonight even though I did get left flat footed by some faster skaters I still made it difficult for them.

We played the other team from the Fall beginner program and managed to beat them 5-4 in overtime to hand them their first loss since they started playing.

I don't know how I'm going to sleep tonight. :D

haha, I know the feeling. Our beer league games are at 10pm at night and I probably don't get home until midnight, and if it was a really exciting game where I scored or something, there's no way I can fall asleep because the adrenaline is still flowing :D.

That reminds me of my first peewee year, we got one win in like 30 games. We won one of the last games of the season, it looked like we had won the Stanley Cup and threw ourselves on the goalie, twas pretty funny.

Congrats. There's nothing like the feel of your first true win. I wish I could say the same for my team. We're 0-10 so far. Our league doesn't have a beginner dicision, so we have to play with all the established teams. I'd kill to have a real developmental league for adults at my rink.

I'm glad others feel the same pain as me. Sometimes I don't get out of the rink until 1:30am, have a 30-minute drive home, have to "wind down" a bit, and then be at work at 5am.

When the schedule comes out, first thing my eyes look for is the late games and hope I don't see too many. It's easy to just stay home during these late ones, but I really hate missing games. Not just because I paid a fee, just for the principle of it.

Congrats Reaper on the 1st win and the newfound hockey "career".

It doesn't matter if you just started playing the sport or have been playing in rec leagues for 15 years.... we all get paid the same salary to play. ;)

When I started our team was bad and it took us a few months to pull off our first win, congrats.

And still get home at 2 am, whether an 8 or 11 o'clock start! Mornings are tough after some games, no, after some celebrating after games.

Our game started at 11 pm last night. I got home at 3 am after we congregated at Boston Pizza near the arena and I didn't sleep a wink last night so I'm still up.

No, they kick us out at 2:30. We get home closer to 3.

Win or lose, we still booze. My leagues have great icetimes. One of them we play mostly 9:10 or 9:30 and the Thursday league has alternating times of 8,9:20, and 10:40.

I've got 2 possible skates on Wed's...4-5P and 10-11P. I play one or the other (and occasionally BOTH). Both are within 10 minutes of a bar that has cheap bottles ($2.75) and "Loonie Burgers" (burger & fries for a buck each)

On a related note, 3 people on my team today got their first goals in a high school Varsity game, and I was one of them. :D We all got to keep the puck we scored with, too.

I had to stop one game 7 times for a coach to collect pucks for players, what a pain in the ass that ended up being. They were smoking the other team and I just wanted to get it over
