Pure Hockey got rid of stick reviews......

Recommended Posts

Was on Pure Hockey's website today and noticed that there isn't a customer review on any single stick on their website.  Two weeks ago, most sticks had reviews on them.

As a conspiracy theorist, i think i i know why......

They should get rid of them. Retail site stick reviews are super dumb. Just a bunch of people complaining their stick broke.

But isnt that the point?  I'd argue that most people buying retail sticks would like to know if the stick is durable or not, no?  There are plenty of sticks over the years that have had great durability, feel and gameplay.....and the reviews have stated such.  Then that same manufacturer decides to tweak the design on the newest version of that stick and they all of a sudden have created a stick with much less durability.  As a consumer, i'd like to know if the stick im about to buy is failing the same place as others who have purchased before me.  Many sticks over the years ( aside from those breaking via slashes, cross checks or whatever ) fail in the same place over and over and do so prematurely.  Eventually a pattern emerges and the reviews begin to show a story.   Getting rid of the reviews IMO is clearly an attempt by the manufacturers or retail company trying to hide those defects, in hopes that it helps with sales.  As a business, i'd like to know where and why my products are failing, so i can improve on the next version.

Personally, I've never read/used the reviews on any of the sites like Pure Hockey, Hockey Monkey, Ice Warehouse, etc. I'll watch new gear breakdown videos some of them put out but if I want reviews I'll use google and read them on sites like MSH, S2K, or Reddit because, let's face it, the ones who are capable of giving a meaningful review aren't posting on the store websites, they're posting on sites like this one (and Reddit is a mixed bag, you have to weed through a lot of nonsense but sometimes you get some decent reviews).
