What's the mystique about the Drury curve?

Been watching the board for a while now and it seems that people used this, that, and the other curve until they tried the Drury (or the like). BAM, now they are hooked. What's the deal.? I have used a Modano or clone for a couple of years and have shyed away from the Drury because of the wicked twist. What's the deal? What's the magic?

More NHL'rs, or should I say ex-NHLrs use "wicked twists". Shots are better than the "white bread" small mid curves, no loft blades everyone else uses.

Shots are better FOR SOME PEOPLE. I shoot much harder and more accurate with a closed face blade, Drury's just don't work for me.

I've used a Drury curve since it came out on the Synergies. I love it. I will admit to it being difficult to get used to for stickhandling. My wrist shot was never great, and I dont take many being a defenseman, but I found this curve is easy to control the desired height of the shot. Snap shot! YAY! Long live this wonderful shot. This curve is perfect for my snappers. I've been told I have a very "quick" snapshot, and this curve is perfect in the way that I can put the puck anywhere I want. Low, high, corners....perfect control. Slappers....same as the snap shot, but take ssome getting used to to find your "slap shot, sweet spot". Even if the Drury looks ugly at first (which it does), at least give it a try. I think most people are pleasently surprised.

I love the Drury. Just bought a beauty Pro Z-carb which is just slightly loftier and more of a heel than the Drury. There right when they say you won't have a wrist shot anymore, but those are for suckers anyways. Grab a Hybrid or cheap wood stick and give'er a go.

Drury's hands down the best pattern I've ever used for stickhandling. There's so much blade on the ice when the stick's on an angle. The loft, the profile, the curve, it all works together so well. Also,

Very similar. It seems to have almost identical loft and starting point, but the actual curve on the heel is bigger. They are pretty close, but I had to re-curve my 9030 to get it exact.

Where is the sweet spot on the Drury? I am thinking about getting a graphite one for my T-Flex shaft. Currently I am using mid curves with round toes and little loft (Sakics, Gilchrists, and Krons).

the crosby is too long i think. but yah you guys are right, i went from the iggy to the drury and it is amazing. i think cavs said this, and i totally agree, "Once you harness the beast" you'll never go back.

If you can find an Easton hybrid blade, that might be the cheapest way to experiment.

The sweet spot should be where the curve is most concentrated, which about an inch away from the heel.

The crosby is a 5 lie so you should probably take into consideration if you're going to be switching to a drury in the future. The crosby is also slightly longer but they're pretty much the same depth wise.

I really like the Drury for wrist shots and especially snappers. But I have to say I like the Tucker TPS curve even better, although it's hard to find these days.

Now that's a stick I like. I can shelf it from outside the redline. With other stick's they would barely hit the middle of the boards.

I LOVE the Drury curve, and i wish they still made it- does anyone know if the Drury will just be under a new name, or is it gone?? I CANT BELIEVE THEY GOT RID OF IT!! :(

i read alot of people think that drury is gone, and not even available on the stealth, but the easton catalouge(sp) has stealth grips with the drury curve for 05, i dont understand.
