Eagle Gloves

Recommended Posts

I have tried on Eagle gloves in the store and though they are nice I wonder what makes them so good condsidering they are very expensive. I have a older pair of hespeler gloves that feel almost as good. Is it the protection that much better or the feel? Just wondering ?

Good question. I guess it has to do with the way the palm feels and performs. It just seems that once you buy a pair your done looking for gloves for the rest of your life. Like a good car you never have to worry about. They also look cool, which is strangly important..... I guess you know protective equipment is good when you don't notice it and it looks good?....

Actually, the protection isn't as good as a lot of other top end gloves. They're good gloves but a big part of the appeal is the name, it's a "cool" brand to have. It happens a lot with products geared to kids.

Yeah, at first eagles were good because they made a quality glove (although somewhat highly priced, but not much worse than say a pair of Z-Airs at the time), now it seems to be because it's the cool thing to have. I've had my eagles for about 3 years now and after I had them for a year people who had played against me the whole time wondered where I got my eagles.

The model with the built in wrist wrap thing has pretty good protection all around.

I think they are nice gloves but are that expensive because they can be and people will still buy them. I think its just buying the name.

I think the main problem people have with paying that much for a glove is they don't see all the "cool" features like the synergy and vapor gloves have. They don't see the point in paying for a traditional styled glove. Same goes with nylon, nylon isn't "cool" so it doesn't sell well.

Yeah the brand is the noticable type. I'm a Junior and all the rich kids comment my gloves, you know the kids who have all the new top of the line stuff, and how all the rich kids have them. I'm not the wealth type I just found a good deal on mine. If i'm not mistake, correct me if I am, I believe Eagle gloves are hand made in Canada so that may play a part in the money. They are well made and made to last.

I think the appeal was their off the shelf comfort.

When I first tried on a pair, they already felt broken in. I think that was the appeal.

But now, there are a lot of other companies/models that feel pretty good w/o break-in and cost a lot less.

I always thought the one piece finger took longer to break in.

Two reasons. They are really comfortable right off the bat, and like said above they are the cool glove to have. There are a couple gloves out there that I would easiily pick over Eagles.

Personally I could care less what equipment is "cool" to wear or use, I use what works for me. I guess using the "cool" gear is more important to some when you're still high school age and younger. With that said I've used a few different models of Eagle's (CP92, CP94, X70) over the years I see no need to switch to another brand. They are all comfortable from the get go and have all held up very well for me, palms and all. I still prefer the one piece fingers as well, any glove I've tried out with 2 piece just hasn't felt right to me.

For some reason I thought split fingers were a relativley new thing when Eagles first became popular, though I am probably wrong?

I agree with the comfort aspect of the Eagles. I own two pairs ( X51 & X 80 ) and they are great. I especially like my X80's because they have the better foams that you can get in many gloves these days. Overall, comfort is a big selling feature for me and of course, yes they are cool.

My team had custom Eagle X70i gloves made and I love them the look almost exactly like the Buffalo gloves with out the extra red line and the cuff says REDMEN in stead of eagle i used them for a season and they are grrrrreeeeeaaaaattt The palms are so soft and black tape really dosent mess them up! I like them alot better than my old Bauer vapors

On my bantam team all the kids like the eagle gloves or gloves that look like eagles. Any name brand glove with traditional backrolls are popular around here(graf, easton air, sande).

I used to love my X80's until I got a pair of Pro Easton PLD's from a friend. My only knock on Eagle gloves is the smell of them after they get all sweaty. It has to be a material they use, cause every other glove I've ever had never stunk as bad as my Eagles did. Did anyone else have this problem or am I just crazy lol

a few years back the team i was on got sentrys, pretty wicked at the time. three knocks on the eagles though: 1. they do or did smell like ass, i think they fixed that 2. a pair of cutom colors took like 10 weeks to get 3. no split finger/knuckle, the new eastons and bauers have it but why hasn't eagle offered it yet?

Because they don't have to half my team buys eagles because they're eagles.

My Fusions haven't smelled up yet and it's been about 3 months. All I've done is leave them on the floor at room temp., sometimes with a fan blowing. My last pair of gloves (not Eagles) really wreaked. I had to get them washed every few months because I couldn't stand the smell.

The first backroll on them moves when the fingers do. I think Mission gloves have a split in their first backroll between the 2nd and 3rd knuckles so they bend the other way too.
