crack on helmet

hi there,

after last nights game i just unpacked my bag and i noticed that my helmet has a crack on the outside where a screw is.

the screw is gone and i guess i cant replace it cause the "nut" (where it goes in) is broken cause a piece of plastic is missing..

so my question is:

should i repair it (taping etc) or will it increase the safety and stuff ?

Drill a new hole right next to the broken one and put harware in there. This works sometimes if it aligns with the adjustment slot.

I think that is a common Bauer 4000 probem. Mine has a crack in the same spot...not as bad as that (mine hasn't lost any parts), but there is a little crack. That looks like is would affect the safety of the bucket...I'd replace it.

You start drilling in there and you void the helmet. Hell, it may no longer be certified with what is messed up already.

im pretty broke at the moment so i'll try to fix it.

SR27 (from MSH) said he would give me a green CCM helmet but i guess the green will be this aweful green :lol: dont know if i should take that

Take the greenie... as ugly as it is, it's free and safe. If you had no alternatives, it would be ok to wear the helmet, but you're just asking to get hurt if you won't wear a new one.

lol.....not sure if it´s from the flashlight but mine actually looks darker I think....I had no choice playing on a junior team that was dressed all green and orange........ As I said I also got a Jofa 690 (black) and a Jofa Gretzky (red) to spare.

I wouldn't get rid of the jofa gretzky. Those things fetch at least 100 bucks on ebay whenever they're up.

The other day at school my friend brought his dad's old helmet from when he played in the show...same exact helmet as Gretzky wore, and it is one uncomy beast. I'm sure some of the padding is taken out and worn away but yea...His dad played for the Oilers too when Gretzky was still here in Edmonton.

There was no padding in the 235. Just a strap in it, in the middle, formed an X.

Who is the guy's dad?

His name is Jim Ennis, he only played like 10 or 15 games with the Oil but nonetheless he did play in the show.

For the record, that game against Boston was nuts. Mercyhurst had 50 some shots against and only lost 6-5 or 5-4.

I also heard them talking about how Mission-Itech donated or helped them out with being able to afford top end OPS and the L2 combo, plus the goalie was all decked out in Itech goal pads. Mercyhurts budget was so small OPS were not allowed and the players had to use combo's but Mission came along and the players were using M1 and L2's. Top notch from Mission once again. (Sorry for hi-jacking topic)

There is a tiny bit of padding on the top, capped by a bit cork.
