freq019 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 I think thier liability for items lost is something like 5k isn't it? Or is it less than that? All this information is on the ticket envelope. As far as the baggage jockeys playing with your stick I don't think you have a claim for a new twig but if it is lost or broken then you may be able to seek damages. Icedog03 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 Brought mine on a plane the other day, Stealth and XXX. They made me sign something where they would only cover it if it was lost not damaged.

JGraz15 53 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 That just happened to a buddy this last weekend flying American. We were playing in the LaBatt tourney in Indy and they lost his sticks! He ended up using an extra shaft of mine and buying a blade (I'm righty, he's lefty). The sticks finally showed up the other day and they were okay. More of a pain in the ass than anything. Chadd 916 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 If you have a few days next time, ship it UPS or fedex to the hotel where you are going. Then call ahead and let them know it will be coming there and to hold it for you.

Yeah, they will do that for skiis too (anything large and bulky that they don't package themselves).Of course, I'm not sure you can have them package it for you anymore or not..... chippa13 1844 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 Southwest Airlines lost my luggage coming back from the Vegas show. Worst part is that my house keys were in it. I got it the next morning. First rule of flying; always put your keys in your carry-on when flying home. Second rule; always keep a change of clothes in your carry-on on the flight out so if the airline loses your bag you have at least a day until you need new clothes. nyhockey6 1 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 About 5 years ago I was going to visit family in Pittsburgh for a month so I had 2 bags, one had all my clothes and then other was all my hockey equipment. I got bumped off my flight it was at like 11pm, they said we'll give you a hotel for the night and stuff, and we'll make sure your luggage gets on your flight tomorrow. So I get up to go to the airport and they had no empty seats on Delta, so they switched me over to US Airways but the morons never moved my luggage and left it with Delta. So I land in Pittsburgh and I'm waiting for my luggage and it never comes out. So I go out to meet my brother who was picking me up, I tell him whats up and we park and come back inside. I go to the Baggage Service office and tell them whats up, they take my information and promise to call me if the bag shows up. As we were leaving the office, I notice that the flight I was supposed to be coming in on has arrived and the baggage is coming off. Wouldn't you know my clothes bag was the 1st one off but no sign of my equipment bag at all. So to make a long story short, my equipment never arrived in Pittsburgh and I got a check about 2 months later for $2000 (The bag had other stuff like a camera and other misc stuff in it, thats why I got $2000).Whenever I fly with my equipment now, I always hesitate giving it to them because of the previous experience I had. Dangles 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 I've flown hockey bags and stick bags with both Air Canada and Westjet before and not a problem with both. Speaking of airplanes, does anyone know why Alaska makes you unlock your bags?
nyhockey6 1 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 It's a Federal Regulation in the US that your bags are not to be locked because they need to be search. It's been in effect since 9-11. If they are locked, the airline is allowed to cut the lock off and conduct the search.

If they are locked, the airline is allowed to cut the lock off and conduct the search. I don't really want to bring up a big argument about this but here's my point. If there's nothing:A ) ExplosiveB ) Damaging to anyone/airplane etc.. then what do they care what you carry in your bag? The locks only have to be off leaving US right? I've came from Canada many times and have never had it happen to me.

Dangles 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2005 Hmm... I wonder if its got anything to do with 9/11. Do you understand my question though? If all your carrying is a bunch of clothes etc.. what right do they have? America West Airlines doesnt make you unlook your bags because my auntie flew at the exact same time as my family, from the exact same place.

Even if you have a lock they either cut it off or if its a certified one or whatever they open it and relock it.
