Radar Detectors?

Hey guys, I am going to be getting my car soon, and my license this summer. One of the things that I want in my car is a Radar Detector. I was wondering what Radar Detectors do you guys use/have? I have been looking on Ebay, and I dont know which one to buy. Any help would be great, thanks.

Im looking to spend up to about $80. I haven't found any of them on ebay, I will look later tonight when I got more time.

I was looking at the cobra ESD 9851 and some whistlers. Anyone have anything positive to say about them?

My dad had a Cobra XR1050, but a cop found it when my got pulled over, so we ended up getting a Lidatek unit. Lidatek's are expensive, but almost impossible for a cop to find if installed correctly. For under $80, you're not going to have many good choices of detectors, but Cobra and Escorts seem to lead the pack at in the low(er) price range. If you can get more money some how, invest it in a It'll save you money if you use the unit.

I've got pics of the Lidatek setup that my dad has on his M3 if anyone wants to see how stealthy it actually is.

Lisateks are real good. I don't know if they still do, but you used to be able to buy a device from them that would have a switch next to the normal lisatek on/off switch that would keep your brake lights from coming on when you use the brakes if you're being paced.

Radar decectors are legal here(Saskatchewan), I know there illegal in alberta though.

we have a valentine one, one of the best if not the best out there. im in alberta, and yeah there illegal, but we got ours installed in the dash area, its right above the cd deck.

ive confirmed it they are illegal in Nova Scotia. My dad said theres a big sign when you enter the province that says so.

Why waste the money on one? Just dont push as hard on the long pedal on the right and you will be fine. The only ticket I have ever had in 20 years of driving was because the trooper saw mine. First thing I did when I got home that night was take it out and sell it. Besides, all high speed on the roadway does is lead to trouble. And when that happens you don't want to see someone that does what I do standing near your car...
