Has anyone seen this character play? He's number 44 on the Providence Bruins (Boston AHL affiliate) who likely has worse skating ability and skill than 90 percent of the people on this board. I was dumbfounded to find that someone that awful was actually playing at the level that is below the NHL.

Judging by his stats, hes a fighter, he had three 150+ PIM seasons in the W, and played 1 game for the Bruins this year. No relation to Bobby, right?

If he was called up it was definately to start trouble, exactly what the league doesn't need. In the game I went to, (Providence vs. Bridgeport) Orr participated in 3 fights.

It was the second game of a home and home or something like that. He was called up to be muscle.

True, but this guy didn't even have the ability to keep up with the AHL game, let alone nhl. His idea of defensive zone coverage was stand at the top of the circle and do nothing. Granted, its farther than i'll ever get.

Its amazing how "bad" a few of these players are. No potential at all, really. Sometimes not even good fighters- McKenna. Now- McCarthy. Doude (boston, I think), Etc.

Did you mean Doull? I've never seen him play, but is it safe to say that he's a disgrace to my screen name?

While their skills might be horrible, I guess they might have the ability to keep up w/ the speed of the NHL. If they didn't have that then they would be totally out of place.

Yeah, I've seen him many times. He & Brendan Walsh (no not the 90210 guy :) ) are the resident goons here in Providence. I think he was up in Boston for a couple games when McCarthy was hurt (when he was a Bruin). I'd have to agree that he's not the greatest, but people around here love to hear the name Orr. I don't understand why they kept this guy & gave PJ Stock to the Philly Phantoms.

He is on the Rangers Full Time know...he plays like every second game or so...pretty good fighter though...this topic is pretty old

I was at a Kings-Rangers game last season and I couldn't believe how terrible of a player Colton Orr is. I told my Wife that I have played with better (non-NHL'er) players in beer leagues.

He is a terrible player, but he is not there to gets points, he is there to fight.

I think his current play is leaps and bounds better than what it was two seasons ago. His skating has improved, defensive mindset as well, and along with the other Rangers 4th liners he does a good job at containing the opposing team's top line (a task commonly given to them by their coach).

True, but that kind of player is a dying breed....I give Orr two more years and he'll most likely playing in the Quebec Senior League.

He plays the role. Guys like that are greatly valued. They're happy playing 3-4 minutes a game and getting paid the league minimum and jumping back and forth to the A. He does his job, no more...no less. Jody Shelley another notable name. Brutal player but plays the role, just got traded to San Jose. But...Orr is not a worse skater than Laraque...it's just pitiful to watch him move around.

Orr has a very hard shot aswell...not that it matters

Orr plays more around 8 minutes per game. The fourth line is usually matched up against the other team's top line. Orr knew that the enforcer role in the new nhl required a lot more speed and skill, and the team has worked him a lot to get him to be a better player.

We know he's on the Rangers, he has been mentioned in any number of topics over the last few months. There is no reason to update a four year old topic for no reason, let alone respond to it.
