The Good old bauer one95 sticks

Recommended Posts

So guys I'm looking for some knowledge

which line of the newest bauer stick would be closest to the old one95 sticks ?

I loved the way they flexed etc and i know they were a supreme line just wondered what your guys opinion would be ? do you think the supreme line is still true to that feel ?

many thanks

My understanding is that the Supreme sticks that are one step down from the top end are made to be similar to the One95.

For example,

TotalONE -> One100

NXG -> One.9

MX3 -> 190

Otherwise it's up to the individual.

The One.9 would be the closest out of anything. From the current MX3/1S lines of sticks though, the fact that Bauer moved up the kickpoint to a mid-high vastly changes the way it flexes for me compared to the Supremes previous. Hence, if you cannot find Supreme sticks from the NXG or original TotalOne families, then I tend to encourage people to look at Nexus, which has taken over the 'mid-kick' construction, but I don't believe it's the same as the One95.

The problem with all of the supreme line of sticks starting with the Totalone was the "amplified mid kick" they started to use. This is where they really began to stiffen the bottom part of the shaft up, and I find it changed the feel of shots quite a bit. I could never get used to the totalones, it left me pretty bummed out. Technically they market the one.9 as being the closest but I find it plays way stiffer as you flex it because it still uses their amplified mid kick instead of the low-mid kick they had on the one95. I've had more luck with a Nexus 1000 than anything else in trying to get that One95 feel, so I'd recommend trying that or maybe even the nexus 8000 as you can probably find that on closeout somewhere for cheap.

You can check out the 2009 Bauer catalogue to see the specs described by Bauer regarding the One95, and draw parallels with the sticks in the 2015 catalogue as well. They should be listed under the downloads section HERE

I've played around with a One95 before, the closest stick I've found that compares to it is the Base Supernatural. It has a low-mid kickpoint as well, blade might not be quite the same from what I remember from the one 95 but the kickpoint is close. Just AIREAYE and Stryker have said I'd recommend you look into the Nexus line for Bauer. Not quite the same but might work for you. The kickpoint on the newer supreme sticks has changed from the older models in the past.

Try a True A5.2 (or A5.2 SBP). Very smooth low-mid kickpoint with a superb wood-like blade. I've played with a TotalOne, and the difference in shaft flex is remarkable. With the TotalOne, you really have to lean into the shaft to get good power and consistency. With the A5.2, shots come off effortlessly, but you can still put some more weight into it and get good power.

I love my 5.2, but it's not very close to the original One95 in terms of blade feel or flex in IMO.

The One95 had a much softer feeling blade and the flex point was a touch higher than the 5.2 from memory. The 5.2 is a great stick but it's not very comparable in this situation.

Blade feel in A-Series is not the same as Bauer used Powercore III foam in the blade which is a more dampened effect. X-Core will have a better version of dampening and a really nice flex profile. The One95 profile was wicked stiff until the exact middle of the shaft and then softer as you graduated upwards. Smartflex is a little different; however, I have had lots of guys that loved their One95 say that they like Smartflex even better.

As a lover on the One95 the closest I've came to it was the Nexus 1000. They changed some things in the 8000 and many of the 1000 fans didn't like it. But the 1N seems to have solved those issues and gotten back to the characteristics of the 1000, so I would check the 1N out as a 1000 will be very hard to find. With that said I have recently switched from Bauer to True and love it! The Smartflex is great and reminds me of the One95. The blade tho is a little harder than what I normally like but is still soft enough to make me put my Nexus 1000 in the back up roll.

While the end result may feel similar from a One95 to Nexus 1000 the layup is actually very different. Very happy to hear how much you are enjoying your True.

You use True 6.0?

Honestly your best bet will probably be the Nexus line not the Supreme. Bauer changed around their flex patterns after the original T1, and the closest you will be able to get in terms of feel to the one95 today i think will be with the Nexus line.
