Definately give the Powerfoot inserts a shot, especially with the 30 day guarantee, that's a no brainer for me. I went from Vapor X7.0's to the 1X's and the first couple of times I skated in them I thought to myself that they were just OK. My biggest issue was with the height of the LS4 steel and maybe a little bit to do with the profile. I ordered LS2 steel and for me it was a night and day difference and I immediately felt comfortable in them. Then I ordered Stable 26 socks and that completed another piece of the puzzle. The last piece of the puzzle was the Powerfoot inserts and that just help take up the rest of what little negative space I had to start with and now they feel really good as they get broken in more. It is amazing with the difference the inserts make by taking up the negative space and it did take a skate or two to get used to them but I don't think I could go back to skating without them.

Ordered a set for my new skates on Saturday. Can't wait to try these out!

My team was able to get some ice for practice in our last season for dirt cheap (I think about $10 a piece for an hour). I'll have to check into that again. I'm only the backup goalie for now until we move up a league next season so little bits of playing time shouldn't be too hard on me either. As long as that's what it is, LITTLE amounts.

When I was a lad, the fields would have just enough water to freeze, so we had the best of both worlds: ice to skate on; but if you fell through, you had a muddy skate rather than a rescue situation. Of course it has not been cold enough around where I live for the best part of twenty years. I definitely recommend a low-key drop in for your first times. I felt like I had jumped into the high-energy drop ins too quickly, but it was going to be a minimum of a six month wait for a stick and puck with no games for me. Going to twerpfest can also be highly stressful as a neophyte goalie. If you can take your friends to your first drop in, I would HIGHLY recommend it. It will be 1,000% less stressful.

I am using a set in my 1X's and it has made a big difference as far as reducing the volume in the toe box. I am using the shim with the inserts and at first it was very snug and it took me a while to find the sweet spot as far as tightening my laces but once I did, I don't know if I could go back to skating without them. The inserts compress enough when skating with them that you don't even know they are there. I have not stuck mine to the toe box with the tape and just push them up in there and they work great.

Hey - I am in a new pair of Vapor 1x skates and I absolutely cannot stand the extra room in the toe box. Has anyone used these w/ the 1x yet?

Just started using my pair, and I find that I like them with the shim, giving me a very snug, tight fit. (I like my skates to be very snug in general - I wear skates 2.5 sizes smaller than my shoes). I started using them with Stable 26 socks, and now I have very little negative space in my boot, which is great. Not sure if there's a significant performance difference from using the Powerfoot inserts (and the Stable 26 as well), but I'll tell you this... from a comfort standpoint...it's fantastic. It's also prevented me from curling my toes when in stationary positions, which has caused aches in the past. And for less than $20, it's a great value. I'm sold and am already recommending to fellow players who have complained in the past about roomy toe boxes.

Nice! Welcome to team POWERFOOT! I agree pucks to the toes get old fast! Let us know what you think once you get a few skates in them! I'm guessing you've stuck them in eh? If not, you could always go a few games without just to see. Thanks for the feedback and let us know how it goes after a few more sessions. Cheers!
