Went to drop in last night, played on the same line with a good team mate of mine. While the night started off with two of the know-it-alls trying to tell me how to play my game, the ref/coach asked me in the carpark "how come you dont play in the B grade? You've got the hands and skating, maybe you should try playing up a level". I told him that it was my first year playing ice, after swapping from inline. He added that my skating isnt like a typical inline playing, but looks more fluid. Happy that all that additional focus I've been putting into my skating to get the right stride etc has started to pay off.

The worst part about a layoff and trying to get back is that the only thing that gets you in skating shape is skating. I still remember in my first game back after my episode when I got knocked down in front of the net, the guy who runs our team yelled out, "Chip's down, call 911." Ahhhh, good times.

Wish I could say the skate went well but I'm not going. Been having BP issiues and it feels like my heart is pounding hard. Like too much adrenaline. Could be anxiety or could be reaction to my increased BP meds. Blood sugar up the last few weeks too since the double vision and the meds (new for me) aren't helping. I'm a mess bro.

Oh, you were so sick yesterday that you couldn't get off the floor of your bathroom, and now you are sitting in your office making sounds like someone is disemboweling you? No, no, you just hang out here, you probably are fine and not sick at all. GO HOME!

We have a rink here in MA that has 7 ice surfaces (and is adding two more) that has added 4 Sparx machines to take some of the load off the guys at the pro shop for those youth tourneys on weekends, and nights where its just droves of men's leagues playing. I would argue that the guys at that pro shop are some of the best at sharpening in the area. However, for people that just want to get a quick sharpening, and not have to wait as long, those 4 machines are invaluable in cutting down the work load. 8 months of incredibly steady commercial use on all 4 machines, and reports have been stellar.

Finally felt well enough to give the gym a try again. 25 minutes on the bike, followed by a bit of stretching and some very light strength stuff. Felt pretty good. Felt like I'd been off my routine for a month, but otherwise good. Thank god, I was going crazy being limited to walking.

I have made about four or five of them now for various people. Each time the design gets updated a little. It's much smaller and lighter now and has a suction cup to stick it to the glass.

Not that bad. I used an Arduino Uno clone, these 7 segment displays, and this for the RF link (plus a few other odds and ends). It ended up costing a little bit more than I wanted it to but I was really just looking for a project so that I could learn how to use the Arduino and this seemed like a good and useful way to do that.

Made me a battery powered, radio controlled scoreboard for pickup hockey. I can hang it outside the glass at center ice across from the benches. I can change the score from a fob I have at the bench. Yes I realize there is already a scoreboard at the rink. But in our 18 to 17 defensive battles in 1.5 hours of pickup, everyone is too lazy to keep going to the scorer's box to change the score. Now I won't have to hear the constant "what's the score" question 50 times a game.
