It makes a huge difference. When you have bars in front of your eyes, it’s much much easier to pick up the puck when the bars are the same color as the background (the ice). Source: Goalie who always wears white cages on his masks

I had ankle surgery about a year ago. As soon as I was cleared to skate there was minor discomfort with the screws rubbing the liners of my skates. It does get better over time, as I hardly notice the screws anymore. There are skates out there now, with very comfortable ankle padding, such as CCM 70k which I’m currently skating in. I was in Bauer supreme 190 and the 70k has much better padding in the ankles. If you’re foot profile fits, it’s a good place to start. But I’ve heard a lot of different skate brands and models offer more comfortable padding in the ankles now. Just let your son know his ankles will return to a “more” normal state after time. I barely notice the plate and screws anymore.

Howdy, No. Seems to be a "wear this brace and we'll check in 3 weeks" thing. I'm doing some stretching exercises this week to try and get some range of motion back, then I'll start doing some resistance band exercises. If I can get it back to at least what it was pre-cast, I'll play and try to just manage the pain. Mark

No, it wasn't. The PM got fired over that skate. The RBZ was a very well-made skate, but the fit wasn't there yet. Once they made the Jetspeed they nailed the traditional process, and then with the Super Tacks, with the composite process.

Overall? CCM has only recently started making a legit product. True has been around for 2, 3 years? I'd say the jurys still out on both.

Maybe back in 1998... Ever since the ONE90 15 years ago, Supreme has been Bauer’s technologically advanced skate, cycle after cycle. Vapor didn’t have to change much as it was always popular in terms of fit.

Not negative at all on Bauer and the 2X Pro is substantially better than the other iterations that precede it. There is a lot to like but I do feel there were some things they could/should have improved upon and just decided to cut corners a bit. Seems to me that the 2S has become the forward thinking technology focused skate and the Vapor line is just small incremental updates. It used to be the opposite.

The APX was ugly. Owning shops I see a ton of skates. Overall Bauer doesn't hold up as well as TRUE and CCM. The exception would be the first generation Super Tacks and the FT1. The AS1 has been pretty good for wear and tear and the FT2 as well. As for what I was specifically calling out in the photos was the unnecessary need to add a faux leather piece to the heel and the embellishments by the one piece eyelet system. Also, I spend so much time fixing those one piece eyelets I will never be convinced they are better than standard eyelets. Just my opinion though. Not right or wrong. Just what I've seen.

I finally won a game in net, and kept my GA under 4, for the first time since returning from knee injuries almost a year ago. Not that I've played poorly, I've been playing really well. But I just seemed to allow too many or one I could/should have stopped too often. It was frustrating to have that happen so many times.

So 2 things that they've had forever on skates? One that continues to be improved and the other that has never been an issue? Not sure what your point is here. Until I start seeing 1 piece CCM boots that are older than 2 piece Bauer boots, Bauer will still be the more durable skate. We'll know in a year if there is a durability difference between FT2 and 2X Pro - I can tell you the 2S Pros are holding up better than the AS1s...

Hey guys. I decided and got the Bauer profile II i2 (black outside white inside) hell of a time getting it on but it feels amazing. Wayyyyyy better than the warrior. It feels like it fits and sits right. Chin is in the right spot. Will use it Friday so we will see how it goes! Thanks for your help. I’ll keep the rest in mind too if I don’t end up liking this.

I will be picking mine up today or Tuesday. Unfortunately, Shift wasnt available under 254 mm so I picked up some XS holders and Step Blacksteel. Assuming the skates fit correctly I'll let you guys know my thoughts soon.
