Been a busy beaver as of late. I wanted to restore my backup rusty VH buckets into working condition... with a few modifications (This is not intended to be a tutorial! There's a lot of missing information!)... Forgot to take a before picture, but these pictures give you an idea of the amount of rust/corrosion: I had to remove the tongue to get to the inside of the outsole, but I wanted an easier way to place it back in. So, I decided to take a piece of fuzzy-side Velcro and glue it's backside to the underside of the overhanging Velcro on the tongue, thereby locking in the nut. Then I took a second piece of fuzzy-side Velcro and glued it to that piece of Velcro so that it would be flush with the tongue AND more comfortable against the top of my foot: Then I had Hockey Giant replace the eyelets for me. Turns out the eyelets that Scott supplied me wouldn't work with their machine, so they used some of theirs instead (I prefer theirs, as it has that black anodized coating) I was having some issues with rivets coming loose, so I began the process of switching over to T-nuts and Socket Cap screws--I used socket cap because they're super easy to start threading with your thumb & index finger). I also decided that since I was having some rust issues, that I would at least coat the T-nuts and washers with some rust-preventative spray: - Scuffed/sanded each T-nut (28) and washer (28) - Soaked them in denatured alcohol and wiped them down with a lint-free rag, twice - Laid everything out on parchment paper and primed with 3-4 light coats on each side for both sides (24 hours to cure) -Then top-coated with a high-gloss enamel by spraying 4-5 light coats on each side for both sides (5 days to cure) Then installed everything together (didn't coat the screws because I didn't want to mess with the interior thread diameter)...

The Avs won @ NYR, my son's ACHA West #2 Skatin' Utes went on the road and beat #3 Utah State 5-2, I played(lost, but it was a fun game, I'm beat) & I'm headed to Jackson Hole.... Life could be worse.

Following a recent tournament and a couple of ringers, a new helmet and dangler was required for minideej.

Speed Plates are amazing IMO. I found someone on PHEW that had a pair brand new and he sold them to me for $35 shipped. Baked them in my home over @ 200 degrees until the ink disappeared then threw them in my MX3's and stood for about 1 minute or so. It molds to every inch of your arch and toes...fits like a glove afterwards on the bottom of your foot. I also got the POWERFOOT inserts to reduce the negative space in the toebox and now have the most comfortable skate I've ever worn and every movement my foot makes is directly transmitted to the ice. I was previously on Superfeet Greens and also Yellows in the same MX3's but without the PF inserts. I can only imagine every top Bauer skate going forward will have the Speed Plate,,,it's definitely that good.

What I really wanted was to have the colorway echo that of the Easton Air GX9500 gloves that the Calgary Flames wore in the 1994 season. Gary Suter and German Titov (below) are the only wearers to my knowledge. Here's the mock up: ... and finally the end result, which was better than I dared hope for. Huge, HUGE thank you to Jesse, Easton, and everyone else who made this possible. I've wanted customs like these for so long and to be able to get to make a pair just the way I wanted them was a dream come true.

I subbed in B league again last night. Scored my first B league goal. Own goal off my skate 20sec after puck drop. :( I'm an idiot, but at least the team was strong and we won 5-3. I rarely play D and played D. It was an awesome challenge. I still had to go to my day job this morning!
