  1. Can't get over how perfect the socks are for that set. Great stuff man.

    Thanks dude!

I believe the international teams wear Nike socks (Swift or whatever they're called; I'd appreciate a correction if needed) with just one yellow and one white stripe. The U18s in this picture only have red shells and red gloves :

My impression is that my jersey design was solely used in the 2010 games :

And that the current iteration has the association logo on the front instead : http://www.iihf.com/de/home-of-hockey/news/news-singleview/recap/7317.html?tx_ttnews[backPid]=10&cHash=e5b8bf7fdb

All in all though, considering the pants and gloves, I think I did a better job color matching than the actual teams!

  2. Kinda; the HHOF had the women's jerseys from the Vancouver Olympics and they'll probably have them again this year. That was the priciest part. The stars aligned for the pants given how amazingly rare they were. The price was ridiculously cheap, the seller used to work for Nike, it was local and close to the right sizing.

  3. Thanks Doug! I'm really proud of it

Had to do some work on the pants to make it fit; I was told that they were mediums but they were huge. Unstitched the uppers off the RYRs and looped the existing belt into the button holes of the lowers. The thighs were also huge and one-piece on the lowers, so I had to use some spare thigh plastics to make them two-piece.

  4. After 3 years, I've finally managed to put together my Team China set, starting with the personalized IIHF jersey!

    bemn.jpg

    Featuring :

Bauer 5100 combo (modified, you can see the Poron in the back)

    IIHF Winter Olympics jersey

Nike Olympic pants (Frankensteined with RYR 6000 uppers)

    Calgary third socks

Calgary third X:60 Pro gloves (Bouma)

Huge shout out goes to LawGoalie for helping me find the pants and gloves.

The pants, helmet and gloves made their debut at SummerJam this year.

  5. I was at the same Skills Camp, and remember you asking that question! Had I have known I would have introduced myself! That being said I totally agree about the gloves, easily one of the best/most confortable gloves that I have tried on. I have a pretty tough time with gloves becuase I have a pretty wide hand, but shorter fingers. The 15's fit me absouletly perfect, I was really blown away.

haha I read your other post down in the main thread area and realized as well :)

The question about honing the polished steel came from my guys who helped me sharpen my pair. For the record on that point, Trevor Luck, the Reebok/CCM rep, said that we could go either way, but that the first sharpening would likely require some more passes.

Will you be joining us at SummerJam?

  6. Just wanted to highlight a key feature of the GX-8 pants that, on my first few scan-throughs, I missed. I believe that they're the only retail pant out now with a +2" extension accesible via zipper. Other pants, like Reebok's current line, only offer +1". It also fits on the snugger side in the waist. AFAIK, they're also the most economical retail option for a pant that fits (or can fit) on the longer side. Seems like a true match for taller and skinnier rec-level and/or intermediate level players and growing kids.

Thanks to the guys at Winnwell (esp Steve and Keaton) for allowing me to borrow a sample to try on!

  7. http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index.php?/files/file/162-2013-ccm-catalogue/

Skates - big story for CCM is the RBZ skate line. This is a brand new skate from the ground up - starting with the quarter package, which is composite, however, for baking purposes, it is at a lower melting point. The skate is made using a double-lasting process as well, and features contoured ankles. The liner is Clarino, and are using high-density Poron in the ankle pads. Compared to the CL, it is 25% stiffer. Tongue is an injected foam/felt combination with additional lace bite protection.

Gloves - the CL 500 is the new glove, and it's completely redesigned. Still featuring a tapered fit, it has narrower fingers and a wider cuff. The 3-piece thumb is extremely mobile as well. Guts of the thumb is U-Foam, as well as U-Foam on the top of the cuff, however, the backhand is snug. And continuing with the Crazy Light story, the glove clocks in at 300g. Nash palm with stretch mesh gussets.

Correction on that bolded point : there isn't Poron in the ankles, but rather, only on the heel of the Custom Support insoles.

Used the CL500 gloves today at the CCM Skills Camp. In my opinion with my hand shape, these are my favorite gloves on the market at the moment. The narrower fingers really work well for me and the palm, backhand and knuckles are unbelievably comfortable and mobile. I would compare the finger fit to a Supreme in width, a Vapor in volume (height) and the CL in spacing. The problem some people seemed to find with the awkward pinky on the U+ CL, namely that it seemed to catch onto the ring finger when opening and closing the hand, didn't show up here. Have these on your radar guys!

  8. Anyway, Graf isn't doing it as drastically as what you think they are doing; not only that, they've been doing it for the past couple of years anyway. The SRPP-outer skate only came out in one fit, and the MCI would only be one fit as well.

    For sure.

For those who haven't examined the catalog, the SRPP skates come in 3 widths (which isn't new) while the MCI comes both in 3 widths AND 3 flexes.

The multiplication I did after you released the catalog has Graf with 783 total SR skate SKUs (I counted every model x separate size x width x flex) while Bauer only has 508. Graf has 155 total JR skate SKUs (I don't think i counted YTH) while Bauer has 292. Total has Graf with 938 and Bauer with an even 800. Problem is, Graf isn't Bauer.

  9. You need to try it on. I followed CCM's sizing guide, but still ended up with a skate that is too large, so I am currently in the middle of processing a return to receive a half-size smaller. I fit 8EE in Bauer Supreme for example, so it was recommended that I go 7.5EE, which I ordered and received. I need a 7EE and could drop to a 6.5EE if I prefer my skates ever so slighlty on the snugger/smaller side. I currently wear 8.5W S15s.

  10. If I were Easton, I wouldn't put out a full line under Mako for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I don't believe that they have the market to support two full lines of skates (The RS already has a full line). Secondly, I wouldn't want to dilute the Mako's momentum or its innovative concept which they worked so hard to market and push with inferior products also carrying the Mako name.

  11. The hard plastic is from the 2010 projekt shoulders. I added a double layer of foam underneath and a layer of poron on top.

Nice. Where did you get the poron from? I have a few sample sheets left that I could use for a project like yours though I think it would be more protective to have it on the bottom of the sandwich, not that anyone would want to test that extensively of course.
