  1. Cold. Makes me wonder if there's something else going on behind the curtain.
  2. Glad you got a payoff for the time you put in.
  3. You need to get tickets more often, to familiarize yourself with the system. I ran across something like that a long time ago, don't remember if it was traffic or parking tickets. Annoying.
  4. Sorry, my ignorance of Canadian law is overwhelming. My only exposure to it is here. Regarding the economics, vacation time won't affect current cash flow, but it's worth money, too -- wouldn't they have to pay you for it at retirement or termination? Good luck.
  5. Two considerations come immediately to mind: 1. Where did this occur, and what options are normally offered? Where I live, for example, there are situations where you can get off with a fine, but won't have a conviction on your record. 2. How do the economics work for you? Loss of a half day's pay and a lower fine vs. a higher fine, and the change in insurance rates each way.
  6. Often it seems more important to a tailgater that you move, than that he gets by. How many times do we see a tailgater in the left lane, staying in position, when a lane is wide open to the right? That's not someone who's really in a hurry; that's someone who needs to make someone else do what he wants.
  7. I didn't address the propriety of hitting the brakes. As to "let them by": How about they just back off and leave a safe following distance? So many times the tailgated driver is moving with traffic, with a line of cars in front of him, with nowhere for anyone to go. How about a bit of patience and safety? Are you really attempting to justify unsafe driving, and shift the blame to the driver who's being tailgated?
  8. It's not great, but if they don't tailgate, the situation isn't possible. Neither is a pile-up. Safe following distance, please. You'll do the same speed as the guy ahead of you at a safe distance that you will on his tail. And if he's moving with traffic, there's nowhere ahead for either of you to go.
  9. There's also a superfluous "=" there, and "]" before ". And the code is underlined like it's hyperlinked, maybe posted as a link instead of an image.
  10. Here's a thread on posting pix: http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index.php?/topic/32356-how-do-i-post-a-picture/page__view__findpost__p__448297
  11. Hope you had a good time; sorry I missed you. I didn't get home until late Saturday.
  12. That sucks, but it sounds as if the marriage had to have been going downhill first, for this situation to occur. I can't see it happening to a guy who's still nuts about his wife.
  13. What troy said. I don't think this guy will understand you're serious until you stop him. And why is it your sticks, rather than any other teammates'?
  14. As long as you're well out of your twenties. . .
  15. And that's why a lot of companies have limited information provided to just that; the policies are lawyer-driven. I don't know that there have been many lawsuits on other information provided, but there are a lot of lawyers looking at that area, and paying attention to where it's going. Heck, even saying something nice about a former employee could bring an accusation that it wasn't nice enough, or a complaint by another former employee when his information omitted saying something nice.
  16. Sometimes it can be tough to get information out of a company if they're worried that they may be providing ammunition for a lawsuit or discrimination complaint. The thing that got my attention was that they were well along the process with you before telling you that you weren't "eligible", H. That's quite different from liking someone else better. As to an employer refusing to verify that you worked there, that's strange. A lot of companies have adopted policies in recent years that don't allow providing any other information about employees, but they will verify employment.
  17. Well, she was young, she knew she was dying, and she wanted to break up with you, as I recall. It may be impossible to imagine how tough things were for her, and where her head was at. Glad you're doing much better.
  18. Hope so. I should be back 9/28, maybe even earlier; depends on flying weather. If I don't have any weather delays between 9/14 & 9/20, I'll probably be heading home from Hartford 9/25.
  19. Hang in there. Don't forget all the good stuff. As to the people you've lost, think about how good it was to have them for the time you did.
  20. Started playing again after a couple months off, due to back injury. The best part is I didn't re-injure it.
