  1. The instructions on the box aren't for baking at home. You CAN bake at home (and I have) but as a general rule you're not going to have people on MSH condone it, with the exception of the odd person who thinks they know everything. Mostly because it voids your warranty. So yes, it's doable. But you shouldn't do it.
  2. Followed up one of my worst performances ever at pickup with one of my best games ever in a game. I guess that's how it's supposed to work, right? :) Won 6-2. The first goal on a PK I just missed. I had a new glove and was having a lot of difficulty getting comfortable with it. Second goal was right off a face-off. It was just barely tipped by my D-man. Not much, but enough to put it under my pad instead of into the boot where it was headed. Those slow ones suck. No more goals after that though, so I'm happy.
  3. That sucks :( I always feel bad when we stomp another team, especially when it's a friend of mine in their net. Especially because I know how I'd feel if it was me instead. I've seen some big leads disappear in this league before though so most guys don't let up at all. I just wish they wouldn't cheer when it's 8-1. Luckily the team I'm currently on has some class and generally just plays keep away or dumps it in instead of trying to score more goals once were up by a lot.
  4. Meh, I'm not going to go that far. I'm still going to usually make a moderate effort to make the save, I'm just not going to go out of my way to move all that much (see the goal at 5:56 of the video - I get a kick out of how much they cheered when that went in). Definitely would never skate out of the net. While that sends a message to my D, that's not really fair to the guy on the breakaway who paid for the pickup session. It's not HIS fault my D is useless.
  5. I had step once that was mislabeled like that. Unfortunately I didn't know it was mislabeled until I'd already had them profiled and sharpened (by the company that I bought the runners from). They accepted a return on the runners but I was out the cost of the radius/sharpening.
  6. Honestly had no problem with that. It's an easy save, especially since he got nothing on it. It was only half a windup anyway. I had much more of an issue with the complete lack of defence. I know most will say not to expect D in pickup, but this is a very different type of pickup. USUALLY it's played very much like a game where the D is pretty good. These guys have all played together for literally decades. This particular night though everyone just kept disappearing. Notice at 4:40 the guy who takes the puck out of the net and goes end to end? Yea, he's a D-man. By the end I'd just had enough of it all. If the guys in front of me aren't going to bother trying, why should I? I've never gotten dressed and left so fast after a pickup before. Absolutely fuming. "You stopped going down, were you hurt?" No, I just stopped caring. I'm on the road again next week so I won't be playing. That's probably a good thing as I think I need a break. Going back to playing 3 times a week again was probably a bad idea.
  7. You're fine if you're getting the same FBV cut. If you're switching to traditional ROH you should let him know you have FBV on it now. He may want to crossgrind it.
  8. What a disaster. What you DON'T see in this video is the countless times there were 2-on-1s that DIDN'T result in saves or goals. I'd definitely had enough by the end. I don't think I've ever got changed and out the door so fast in all the time I've been playing goal. I think it's time to take a break from pickups.
  9. These aren't what I have but all Brian's are pretty similar: http://goalie.totalhockey.com/support.aspx?pg_id=7004
  10. Won 3-2. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy. Couldn't seem to hang on to anything, directly leading to their second goal. Not a great night at all from me. Luckily the team bailed me out and we hung on.
  11. I like my leg channel as tight as possible. But I also wear Brian's... lol
  12. Noooooo don't use duct tape! You can buy pad wrap in strips that are much cheaper than a full sheet. Since you're only doing a bit, it's probably the way to go!
  13. Awesome! You just need some black pad wrap on that blocker! ;) And yea... the thigh boards are kind of a dead tech these days. Pretty pointless. What knee pads do you wear?
  14. On one hand it's really disappointing to be told you're not getting the job. On the other, it makes me happy to know they must be getting somebody REALLY amazing.
  15. Looking forward to seeing them! Make sure you pose in them "awkward Scott darling" style!
  16. Ugh, not a great night for me. I seemed to be off my angles and fighting the puck all night long. Where last week it felt like everything was a save to the belly, last night was scrambly as all hell. I was barely busy at all, yet let in a ton of goals. It felt like every shot went in. Oh well, better luck next week! Oh, and we were going old school San Diego with retro Gulls jerseys this week!
  17. I think you need a new pair of socks before you need a new pair of skates ;) lol
  18. Hmm, lace locks on VH would be fantastic, as most of the eyelets barely need to be tight at all, but the top 3 need to be pretty tight. For me, at least.
  19. Not much looks worse on a company than making up stuff about your competitor because you feel threatened.
  20. I've been using the HAL straps for some time now. Far better than the Brian's straps.
  21. Bauer NME3 mask and Brian's collar both sold on GGSU.
  22. Pickup this past tuesday was probably the best I've ever played. Sadly, my GoPro battery was dead after 5 minutes. Really kicking myself for not charging it :( Moving on to last night... Pretty happy with this game. Despite going down 2-0 early on two crap goals, the team stormed back and we ended up winning 6-3. Very happy with my play except for those first two goals, and then my blunder playing the puck in the 3rd period nearly leading to a goal.
  23. If it was a skill level thing, sure (I know I definitely give out a lot of suggestions for things I know I myself am not able to execute on), but in this case it definitely sounds like more of an issue with his level of effort.
  24. Absolutely! I even went fairly neutral on a custom set just because you never know. I only put red in sections that would be easy to pad wrap; the rest are black and white. I kind of wish I'd gone all out on colours but oh well. Probably smarter to go neutral.
