NERD! Just kidding man, that's really damn cool. Well done!

#2 is probably your best option. If you have edge holders, even more so. Make use of them!

Haha I agree, and I guess I can't look too dumb since nobody has ever chirped me for it. But if they ever did I'd just give them the honest answer.. the skates fit so well that they're hard to get on without it :) Besides, after the earlier issues about ripping that area of the liner I'd rather be safe than risk doing it again even if the glue HAS held up since I did it. I don't care what anyone says, these skates are 100% worth any of the minor issues or annoyances we have with them. -
Congrats!

Had to do the same, and still find them difficult to get on. I actually starting using a long 36" shoehorn when putting my skates on in the locker room. I look like an idiot but it makes them infinitely easier to put on. I could probably heat them up a bit again and mold out the area that causes the issues getting them on, but with the shoehorn I haven't had much trouble -

Put it this way... If I find myself skating out in a league again, I will be buying a pair of player VH skates, no question. -
Since I'm not in between seasons, I figured now would be a good time to post my stats so far. I don't know what's wrong with the GAA stat, it's obviously broken. Also missing is my Winter/Spring playoff game, also a loss. (0-3 in playoff games so far... yikes). Overall, there's no question that I'm getting beat a lot more in a division up, which isn't surprising. It's not usually shots beating me, it's often better passing combined with my lack of mobility. That will get better with time, though.

So for me, with my VH being goalie skates I'm not sure it made a difference in skating because I don't do much, but having skates that don't hurt the entire game is pretty nice. As far as my player skates when I switched to makos (not VH obviously, but still) it definitely improved my skating. However again, this is more from not being in pain anymore than anything else. I imagine my experience would be similar in VH instead of Mako. -

Gorgeous as always. -
Hells yea dude, nice job!
-
Those are gorgeous! Where'd you get them?
-
Best to just try them on.

I generally agree but when people are clearly getting annoyed by how much you're letting in...

So my eyelets haven't rusted, but the screw on the top of the toe box definitely has. You can't actually reach it because of the cowling. *shrug* you can't even see it unless you look. We'll see if it becomes an issue down the road. -
Not really. I don't really want to start trying things during games, and the pickups are too back and forth to really get a good chance.
-
Meh, I've never seen goalies switch ends in this pickup in the year I've been there. I think the team I was on was getting tired of fishing the puck out of the net, lol. Either way, learning experience. I don't know why I'm so bad lately though. I had a stretch where I was doing really well about a month ago.
-
Not a good night of pickup. Got "pulled", and played poorly overall. Captain Asshat strikes again as well.
-
What an asshat, psulion. I don't get why it's so difficult for people to talk to you like you're a human being. In my situation all he had to say was "your spot is being taken by a guy coming back who played with this group for years" (if that was the case). With me, I can take no for an answer as long as you're not a dick about it. I've had a few exchanges in the past where "sorry, no, I/we can't because..." would have been great, but instead it was a dickish remark. Like seriously, we're adults and theres no reason you have to talk to me that way. Anyway, this is moving into more the realm for the venting thread at this point so I'm going to get back on topic. I need to go charge my gopro for tonight :)

As much as I wanted to tell him where to go, I agreed to play. Now to figure out how to get my gear in my car since my wife took the Volvo...
-
Never. I used to with other skates because I had to tie them so tight, but that was more numb than actually cold I guess.
-
I barely pull my Makos tight until the 3rd last eyelet. The entire top of my foot is only just barely snug.
-
Just got a text: "I got a goalie that just canceled do you want to play?" Seriously.
-
Heh yea. I once told him I'd be there and he said "okay, thanks". I don't know, maybe it's just my weird logic, but to me that means "yes, I understand that you will be coming". I guess not. I show up and theres another goalie there. I email him back asking him WTF happened and he's like "I never confirmed you were playing." WTF else does "okay, thanks" in response to "I'll be there" mean then, exactly? Luckily in that situation the other goalie didn't actually want to play that night anyway, he had some other commitment he was bailing out of to play, so I got to play anyway. Either way like I said, he needs me more than I need him. With how many rinks are now in the area I'm not too worried about it.
