Not really. I've seen multiple people suggesting they wanted sparx to be able to profile. -

Theres just no real good reason for it to do profiling. Who are these people who are profiling their skates every week that need a consumer appliance that does it for them? -

I think it got cheaper, but not sure. I had Kickstarter pricing on gen1 so I have no idea what the retail was on any of it since then. -

I see no benefit to gen 3, besides making gen 2 cheaper... -

I do like what they've done, it's pretty neat. But not enough to justify an upgrade over the gen2 if you already have that. I have a gen 1, so if nothing else this should discount the gen2 enough to get me to finally upgrade. -

Looking forward to it. I'm still rocking my gen 1 kickstarter machine. I was considering a gen2 machine now that I'm playing regularly again, but now I'll wait and see what the gen3 looks like and either get that, or a gen2 at (I assume) discount prices. -

Just marketing nonsense. Pick the one that fits you better. -

I don't wanna hear another word about people in Pittsburgh talking funny. -

Weird and factually incorrect comment.

3D Edge Analysis - sparks vs Blackstone up close

It's honestly hard to take seriously an article that calls it a "Sparks". -
I know that exact feeling. It's the reason I can't wear Nike athletic shoes (stuff like Dunks are fine though), I always feel like the arch is too close to my heel.

Nice! Ordering a pair right now.

I'd love to find something with a bit more padding and comfort.

CCM FT6 Pro compared to Catalyst 9X3
IPv6Freely replied to VegasHockey's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
The first sentence aside, I agree. Where do people think the weight reduction of top-end sticks comes from? Magic? No; they have less material (or potentially different, more performance-enhancing material). The lower tier models are going to be heavier because they have more material, but that also tends to make them more durable. It's not likely a linear relationship between cost and durability, but top end sticks are definitely squeezing out every ounce of performance they can for a market where performance is more important than durability. Diminishing returns at the top end, but if you're a pro then squeezing every bit of performance you can at the cost of every other factor is well worth it. All that said, the low end has improved DRAMATICALLY over the years. If I were to guess, I would suggest the cost of giving the lower end sticks much of the tech/materials as the high end has evened out quite a bit. Or put another way, the gap between the low end and the high end is much less today than it used to be. People often lament the fact that sticks haven't really gotten that much better lately, which may be true. But I think what they're not factoring in is how much the low end has closed the gap. As an aside, I have always kind of wondered why players on a PK don't at least consider opting for something that may be heavier but more durable so you don't have the sticks exploding trying to clear the puck. They always seem to break at the worst times. -
How big a PITA is flying with gear?
IPv6Freely replied to marka's topic in General Hockey Discussions
When I was bringing my giant goalie GRIT tower it would only hit around 50lbs on the way home when everything was still wet (and MOST times they dont charge me for oversize, either). So you should be fine. I agree with printing out their policy. Most of them understand but its always good to be able to show them. Sometimes they're confused when you say "I have two checked items, but I need three bag tags" if they don't know the policy. Traveling with player gear overall should be pretty painless. -
