I'd like to thank OptimusReim for the killer deal on his old Bauer Reactor 2000 skates. I bought them last week to have the cowlings put on my Graf Goaler Elite skates, this is a pic of the swap in progress that my buddy from Goalie Monkey sent me. I picked them up on Friday but haven't used them yet, I can't wait to get on the ice with them!

We won last night too, 4-2 against the first place team! First goal I should have had, was lazy when dropping and it squeaked under my left pad. Second goal I was hung out to dry on a 2 on 0. I actually got over in time with a b-fly slide but still got beat above the right leg.

I only retape if it is torn along the bottom of the blade.

Anyone else have photos of themselves in goal?

So far my oem Bauer one has done the trick! I've heard great things about the Sham ones too.

i actually tried that out for the first time last week in my game and loved it. i was able to keep a good grip inside the glove without the sweat that caused it to get slippery.(2 month old eflex 500) i may try to find a thinner glove to wear, like a golf glove that would give me a little better feel than the easton batting glove i wore.

I just had a similar situation with them (Goalie Monkey). Ordered some new leg pads on Friday evening, then on Monday morning I saw the 20% off 4th of July sale on the Goalie Monkey homepage! I immediately contacted them Monday and spoke to a CSR who was very understanding, but his hands were tied. He then passed me on to a Supervisor or Manager who acted like his hands were tied and eventually gave me an additional 5% store credit (for a future purchase). I was also very cordial with them and explained the obvious, imho it is a very flawed policy and they should have something set in place for these types of scenarios. For what it is worth, I am in their retail location at least once a week.

Law Goalie, if one was to go from using the middle slot in the cowling for the boot strap (very loosely) to the rear slot in the cowling, would it be wise to adjust (loosen) the toe ties to accommodate the new positioning?

Looked like a much more balanced session for ya, next to no outnumbered attacks. You practice getting up with your right leg yet?
-
who helped you there? im friends with wyatt, big nick, lil nick, will, ryan and danielle. they are having a sale this week for 4th of july, see if you can wait to buy the glove then. infact, i ordered my pads online yesterday and used code "gmgrad10" to save 10% on my order! i didnt want to risk waiting til the 4th of July sale since there were only 4 sets left in the P4 pads in the break I wanted.

Gotcha. There is one here in Anaheim on Wednesday nights that I have hit a few times, it is at 8:40pm, so it is doable for me after work. Once in a great moon there will be a weekend StickTime on a Saturday (such as last) at my local rink in Lakewood that I go to as well. Our games are on Sunday afternoons/

I wasn't sure if you ever did clinics or sticktime/stick & puck. That is where I work on a lot of stuff.
-
Whaaaat? Why not man? Do you ever practice them? I see you bust a few half pushes during these videos here and there when you are moving to your right.

Looks like same'o when it comes to the defense, or lack there of. One thing I noticed (this comes from me watching tons of videos on goaltending as well as working on this myself) at 1:25 of your video is that your shoulders look to be turned in the wrong direction as you track the puck, then you drop your right leg instead of your left, causing you to lean to the right and leaving the left side pretty open. I could be wrong but it seems like if you had your shoulders more square (more to the left than right) and then if you dropped your left leg/pad and pushed with your right skate you would have been able to cover that area in a butterfly slide, while keeping your chest straight up. At 6:10'ish it looks like you got up on the wrong foot, used the left when you should have used the right, might have been able to get a good backside push to t-glide over to the far post there. It has to be frustrating overall though with the lack of defense man, I'd also be frustrated at all the extra whacks that go on when the play is seemingly over but these guys feel like they just have to score at any cost.

man i'm lucky if i get 5 shots (out of 12 players or so) that actually get put on net during my warms ups.(rookie league) maaaaybe, just maybe one will hit be in the pads. otherwise it is worse than a driving range full of rookie golfers shanking shots left and right.

We lost 3-2 last night in a shootout. First goal I gave up was a result of a bad line change and then the puck was on its own between the blue line and myself, an opponent was rushing in, i did the "should i go, should i not go" for about 2 seconds, i decided to go and try to poke check it and the guy barely beat me to it and shot it in. :( The next goal was again a bad line change, led to a 2 on 0, guy beat me glove side, I did get a piece of it though. The same guy that scored on me was the first shooter in the SO, I tracked the puck well as he tried to dangle me to my right, got my right pad down and pushed with my left foot, blocker was down too, somehow the puck rolled on its side around my toe and in. :( I stuffed their next shooter and none of our players managed to get one in, all 3 shot it right at their goalie. Our team did much better this time around, last time we lost 8-1 to them, but we only had 7 skaters. Playing goalie has been eye opening and has brought the frustration level to a new high. If you play beer league, please thank your goalie many times throughout the game, I'm finding it to be a thankless position. Unless you have played it, you have no idea how hard they bust their asses to keep the team in the game.
