    It growing in popularity. Especially with the new steel that fits in both CCM and Bauer holders. Massive steel was too hard. I agree, Byonic sharpens nicely.

    I have only seen one pair of XS holders that click when you walk. This was due to the player using RamonEdge steel which is slightly wider than standard steel for the holder by roughly 1mil. Even though that is VERY small, over time that 1mil stretches out the holder and when you put standard steel back in it will slightly wiggle in the holder.

    Talked to someone that confirmed it was nearly a miracle to get him to use the dressed up OG Jetspeed skates with XS holders and STEP. Apparently like Crosby, McD doesn't like to change ANYTHING unless something is broken.

    Canada and the US tend to respect one another's patents even though legally there is a grey area there. That being said, if you are in North America it's a terrible decision to infringe on parents and not to expect to be sued. In many parts of Asia you can get away with it. Europe, depends on the country. Eastern Europe you are probably fine but Western Europe you are likely going to be in some trouble.

    Well, the good news is any shop that is worth it's salt can easily drill holes and mount holders. If they can't perform tasks like that you might want to consider go to someone else. May I ask the shop that told you they can't get the boots with holes drilled? Was it BTM?

    The first generation steel had a larger window which was later changed due to breakage. I have not seen any of the updated steel break.

    Lets be realistic, none of the current pros are going to change what works for them. I think TRUE is trying to get the next generation of players to adopt the holder. Similar to the demographics that Apple, Telsa and other disruptors and innovators target.

    The graphics for retail are fine, but for customs I think they should have kept the previous design as I see nothing wrong with it. That "custom" jewel they added is terrible. Having symmetrical holders that also provide performance increase don't fall into that category?

    I think they are looking at the total addressable market. If a customer wants to only use a specific steel brand, let's say STEP, they might be more willing to give CCM a second look where as previously they would stick with what they are used to using. I agree with you. You are correct. I would say 90% of parents and players don't really care or know the difference between high and poor quality steel and just use whatever comes with the skates. I skate with players of all ages and levels, its usually lower level older players that actually care about these things more than the elite level or younger players.

    I think TRUE is more focused on trying to innovate as opposed to do things like everyone else. However, getting people to adopt innovations is a long and difficult road. With many innovations at some point you are going to upset some of the consumers, for example, how many consumers and companies in the automotive industry dislike so many things Tesla is doing.

    Correct, many players that are unwilling to change their use of STEP. If a player wants to to have holders changed at time of purchase I only charge them for the hardware and no labor costs.

    I think they are fine since they have their own separate patents. Bladetech is likely safe as well. That being said, I am doing more LS Edge holder to CCM XS holder swaps lately. I wish/hope that CCM does not go the same route as Bauer, but they might, buying STEP was a significant cost and I am sure they are going to want to see a return on investment.

    Not short strides, lots of crossovers and crossunders (reactive linear crossovers) as opposed to Ovechkin, Jagr and others who have a much longer traditional stride. There is a ton of info online about this. PEP has a bunch of stuff about it too.

    If you had a previous profile done and the pivot point was not altered, then it would be 20mm back of center. When they reprofile the steel to an Ellipse the steel would be positioned in the sled holder based on that previously set pivot point. Otherwise, you would be 40mm back of center. I totally understand how you feel about the Ellipse vs the Quad 0 in regards to mobility. In my testing, I think the Ellipse XS would be significantly closer to your feeling of a Quad 0 as compared to the Ellipse 0. You can put both templates on a lightbox and see how they are the same yet different, specifically in the front 1/3 of the profile. I am not entirely sure why the Ellipse was made with a much less aggressive front 1/3 compared to Quad or Zuperior. The Ellipse doesn't activate muscle groups that next-generation players are using (McDavid, MacKinnon, Bedard, etc) and results in much longer strides. For some older players, this might feel more comfortable but advanced younger players aren't coached to skate in the same way and I think the Ellipse might actually be bad for them.

    Graf Supra 707 skates were my jam for a majority of my life. Second would be Bauer Nexus 1000.

    I've been on a ~272 since my feet stopped growing. I tried a 263 holder/runner and I could not adjust, likely the change in where the balance/pivot point was located was what was throwing me off. With a 272 holder, the balance/pivot point is located much further back and then if you profile the steel it's pushed back another 10-20mm, depending on the profile selected. With that being said I could maybe skate on a 263 now if I adjusted the pivot balance/pivot point to match the 272 holder/runner.

    What size steel and what brand? I know some shops will alter the pivot point based on the steel size or brand of steel. For example, when I profile Flare I usually dont do as much forward pitch since I want to remove a minimal amount of steel possible. Also, I always tell my customers exactly what I am doing when I profile their steel. If they can't come back to me, or decide they want to go elsewhere, I don't want to be the "gatekeeper" to their profile. I know there are some shops that refuse to share details with their customers and while I understand some of that information could be considered proprietary I feel like it's customer lock-in.

    I've replaced it. Basically, the same fan as you can get at a computer supply store. Not sure it's really necessary though unless you are doing a lot of skate sharpenings.

    Did you get them in the same size as your Jetspeed? I remember trying on a pair of Graf skates and them being slightly shorter in length when compared to CCM and Bauer.
