Sparx Skate Sharpener - At home sharpener

What prices have you seen used units selling for that are in good condition? I found one for sale for 550 and was going to pick it up just to mess with but the warranty is expired on it. The unit works fine and looks like new but I was not sure how well they hold their value. -

Agreed. -
For that price I would have CCM make me a new pair. Thats a lot of cash. As for your observation about not having weight on your feet when scanning. As someone who deals with a lot of custom skates I agree with you 100%. Without having weight bearing in the proper stance the scan will never be to the proper specification. This is why TRUE makes you do a "warrior pose" when you are scanned and then also is very specific about making sure nose, knees and toes are all aligned when baking. I have heard of players when being scanned putting the chair against the wall and pushing down on the glass with their feet to generate a weighted load. Not sure how effective this is though.

More ergonomic and not as wide as it makes the skates look bulky and not streamlined. Ideally, I wish they would go back to have a composite toe cap as I really liked that look, though I know its not nearly as durably as the current materials being used. -

I wish they would streamline the toe cap a little. That's my only complaint currently with the TRUE skates. -

It's more than just a quick release holder.... I cannot comment on anything more though. -

One thing is for sure, anyone who ever complained about weight will surely have nothing to whine about anymore. Still not a justification to skip leg day though 😉 -

The new process is fantastic. Nothing but solid feedback from everyone regarding it. In fact, we now do this same process for ALL skates at our store. -

How many people are buying new skates every two years though? Most players I know who wear TRUE skates specifically buy the brand because they know the skates are built to last. The durability of their skate has been tested and proven at all levels of hockey. -

I don't know if I would consider that ironic. The dark clarino TRUE liners are VERY nice and don't absorb as much moisture and they also dry out very fast too. I absolutely consider them to be top notch! From an overall technology perspective they are much more advanced than the tan clarino. -

There is always going to be new stuff released and such. Technology is fairly progressive. -

TRUE has a snug fit liner they are testing but is not available to the public as of yet. Stay tuned. In the meantime, if you know the right people and ask nicely you can still get the tan clarino. I got them to hook you up 😉 -

The grey clarino doesn't soak up as much moisture and is noticeably thicker than the tan liner. This is why when you see most of TRUE skates being used by professionals they almost always have the tan liners. It provides much better grip locking the foot into place. I usually don't recommend the fabric liner. While it does promote good foot lock and does a great job wicking away moisture, the skates become very heavy and take a long time to dry out fully. It's also not as durable. -

For people that sweat a lot and want a really snug fit it's always best to go with the tan clarino option that they have. -

If I may ask, where did you go? My stores are located on the west coast and we do a ton of skates. I hope it wasn't Pure Hockey..... -

This is the way ALL store that sell TRUE skates are supposed to be baking skates. Did they not do this when you bought them? -

TRUE designs skates for your heel to sit much farther back in the boot. When you are in a hockey stance it locks in. If you try to stand upright it will sit a little outside of the heel cup.
