  1. Makes me wonder though if a player actually feel that slight off mounting? I was poking around online and found some other Pro Stock skates with oversized holders. To be honest, they also look like they are mounted very far forward as well. One of them was a pair of 280 holders on a 7.5 skate, for example.
  2. What was the cost on that? The work looks very good.
  3. Pics. Looks like they didn't drill any new holes in the rear and either made the holes in the forefoot larger or drilled new holes.
  4. I'll have him snag a photo and email me it. When I get it I'll post it.
  5. I just would imagine there would be some consistency between the two brands in regards to holders sizing. CCM used to go with larger holders than Bauer in the past.
  6. I have him that as an option, for us to install a set of 263 holders, but that's not what he wants.
  7. Yeah. I have no idea why CCM doesn't do the same.
  8. It's a conflict of interest since I also own a shop as well. If the customer, who is also a ModSquad member, wants to share the shopping he can. I won't though.
  9. Agreed. I'll let him know. I am not sure if the shop that did the work is gonna replace the boot though for their shoddy workmanship. He said they were quite defensive when he first asked them if they mounted the holders too far forward basically telling him they do it all the time and other shops, and the online community, are overall clueless. I am trying to be politically correct by specifically not naming the shop.
  10. One thing I find interesting is these are. 7.5EE. I know on Bauer or TRUE they would normally be a 272. Why does CCM use a 263 on the same size? 263 for this boot size seems too small.
  11. Yeah, IMO those holders are destroyed and he should seek to get his money back from the shop who did the install. He also should be refunded for the installation too. Can I have him send you the skates to get the holders mounted properly? I am having the guys at the shop check and see if we have another set of 272 holders in stock so he doesn't have to drive all the way back up to Vancouver.
  12. @JR Boucicaut @Vet88 @oldtrainerguy28 I’m out on vacation currently and a player came to the shop asking for someone to validate if his holders are properly mounted. Apparently, he put 272 holders on a 7.5 skate, replacing the stock 263, and is saying they feel too far forward and he feels like he is falling forward. I would help him out if I was home in Seattle, but I am in Arizona for the next 10 days. I asked him to share some pics and he sent me the one below. To me, they look too far forward by about 1/2" or so.
  13. I tried to do this for a customer myself and TRUE skates are a nightmare to take apart. I also had a customer who wanted to change colors and TRUE told him no.
  14. Correction, new models every other year for each of the product lines.
  15. Better off selling them and getting a new pair done. I have never seen anyone get post-production changes. Ever.
  16. May want to look into ProtectaClear. I use this on customers who are rough on steel. https://www.everbritecoatings.com/cart/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=7
  17. Agreed. Last I heard they are at the top of the line.
  18. Some templates have a built-in pitch. If you want to have a neutral pitch you would do the following: Mark the blades pivot point on center (like normal). Mark an additional pivot point 20mm back from center (closer to heel). Line up pivot point on the sled with the black dot. Place blade in the holder with the 20mm back from center lined up with sleds pivot point. Do not clamp yet. Press left directional arrow till the sleds pivot point lines up with the center pivot point and clamp in place there. Make your wheel adjustments like normal. Profile till complete.
  19. From what I have seen the VH skates were more pliable than the TRUE skates and as such many people feel they fit better but did not last as long.
  20. My mom was a private banker in Beverly Hills when he was at the height of his career and she was his personal banker. She was able to score me some signed Airwolf memorabilia from him when I was a kid because I loved that show.
  21. Figured I would share this for people to understand the options available to them.
  22. I also see a lot of issues with customers who get their VH/TRUE skates and then crank on the laces, and/or lace from the outside in, and/or use wax laces. I feel like non-waxed laces and lacing from the inside out allows the laces to slip a little and properly distribute the tightness across the entire facing of the skate. Also, as mentioned, you should pull them enough to remove the slack but it's not really necessary to crank down on the laces.
