  1. I like that the business part of the mechanism is recessed, I don't like the fact that it requires a tool, but it seems like the regular Bauer one needed a tool sometimes to release the blade anyway. The barb does in fact look quite long, but I trust that it's for a reason.
  2. Saw this and thought of your profile pic

Hahaha... that's awesome, thanks man.  That would make a great shirt 😄

  3. If it's only been 5 weeks, I would contact them ASAP to start a conversation with them on what they suggest. @Sniper9 is right on the money with regards to that bake technique though.
  4. If you look back a little you can see the history of events, but the short version is that I did try the TRUE's for a bit (5 months), I wanted to give it a try at least. I didn't like the holders, they clicked when I walked and felt heavier/bulkier (not sure if it was actually heavier). To be fair, when I contacted them about the clicking issue, they sent new holders right away, but since I was going to have to take the holders off anyway and I had some SB4.0 Step's Blacksteel already from my older skates, I decided to put those on instead. If I were you though, and if I could wait another month, I would try the new True holders that's going to come out. I certainly wish I had waited had I known.
  5. I have the exact setup, True with SB4.0 and Blacksteel. To me, the trouble was well worth it.
  6. That holder looks almost looks like a Marsblade-esque thing with a quick-release.
  7. My CCM Tacks Girdle felt so tight when I first wore them, I almost returned them, but after adjusting the leg straps and about a month or so everything kinda fell into place. It fits me perfectly now, I couldn't go back to regular pants anymore.
  8. Oh I didn't mean to sound like I knew anything about them, I was just compiling what was said previousely. Has anyone had any feedback on these? They look nice.
  9. So pretty much: Gray/Dark Clarino is thicker, doesn't soak up much moisture and dries fast, more advanced in terms tech, and is more suitable for general folks, what you get by default Tan Clarino gives better grip, suitable for Pros and only available off-menu New snug fit liner is in testing, which would be the best of both worlds, but not even available off-menu
  10. My skates finally, after some fiasco with the holders and steel. It's finally done, had a game last night and it felt incredible. Halfway through the game I felt confident enough to loosen the laces even more. Credit where credit is due. The guys that I originally sent these skates to have the holders switched, mangled the job (bent the steel as well as a result). But Joe from B-Sharp in Ottawa was able to fix these up better than before, he actually called TRUE to get my scan and their build papers, and consulted with them on how and where to mount these properly, got me back on the ice the next day. Above and beyond work.
  11. Also neat to see how Rask wants his stored open, and Halak stores his closed. He could be breaking them in too, break in a few and feel how the are during the warmups.
  12. Looks nice and clean. I'm about to drop off my skates for the holder switch to SB4.0 as well this afternoon.
  13. Long shot, but what size are you? You're in an extremely similar situation as I am/was. I would go SB4.0 (which is what I will end up doing because I have Blacksteel for it already), because I realized that in all my years of playing, the quick change ability would have only saved me a handful of times, if that.
  14. I hate this thread, and I hate that I have something relevant to post. Here's a vid of the tests at Virginia Tech.
  15. He says a few of the holes are slightly off-center from one holder to another, I dunno what to say to that.
  16. My skate guy wants to first epoxy the holes and fill them anyway before re-drilling them, is that a good idea?
  17. I was told to tie them with only like 75% tightness, if you crank on them you will pull the eyelets out. I was warned like three times by two LHS employees to make sure, because apparently it has happened before. I have a clicking noise coming from the holder too and it drives me nuts, I hear some folks have the same issue with the TUUKs that they've swapped out too. I am going to be swapping them out as soon as I can get my hands on the XS holders (can someone confirm that the holes line up? Or if there are any caveats to look out for?). I've been able to reduce them by placing a bit of hard plastic tape on top of where the blade hooks onto the holder. But that's not a permanent solution it seems.
  18. That's funny, I think I have the exact Warrior bag, and it's falling apart after two years (4 seasons). The piping ripped after one, and the inner pockets ripped after two. Before that, my old Cooper bag lasted me 15 years, and my Easton bag lasted me 10 as well.
  19. Getting a bit off topic, but yeah a quick google search shows. https://imgur.com/a/VeyxQsV
  20. I think Michael Grabner and Trocheck are using it, among others.
  21. The guy that I get my skates sharpened at is amazing, he's like a skate whisperer. He's the one of three guys in my town that will actively work with people to get the perfect profile/hollow, and unfortunately/fortunately word spread and he's gotten super popular with teams (2nd one is extremely popular with figure skaters and on the other side of town, the other is not well known yet but have really limited hours). During tourney week, it can get to a 3 hour wait, this is making me consider Sparx or other automatic home sharpener option. There'll be three of us skating in the winter, I usually play twice a week all year long, so savings might be there too.
  22. I have to get mine on by putting in my foot sideways and then twisting it into position. I also use a shoe horn sometimes to help it along.
  23. I've never thought of the gear weight affecting the hollow, but usually I go sharper for colder like ODRs (11/16" to 5/8"). But it makes sense, I once carried my son (35~40 lbs) around during free skate, and I could def feel slip around the corners.
  24. True skates are the most comfortable skates I've been on, but that said, if I can find something like the old Makos or Graf that fits 80% as good, I could see myself going that route as well.
  25. I'd rather not pay extra for QC on appearance that I'm going to scuff up while playing. I'm not trying to disparage your desire for proper finish and looks though, I understand what you mean, but it's not just me.
