Normal Rain-X is formulated for Glass surfaces I believe, I would try their one for plastic surfaces. https://www.rainx.com/product/plastic-water-repellent/rain-x-plastic-water-repellent/#.XXfryJNKh24

I'm debating between these or Hybrids for my next one.

Wow I don't usually follow equipment changes, but I guess he made a switch to everything CCM (sorry if it's off topic)?

There's a pair of Gallagher ProStock gloves that I really want as well, but yeah 50~70$ USD for shipping. Local guy here has a pair too but wants 400$+ for them.

Try buttons, or just laces with holes.

Vision is an incredible thing, there's a small circle where you see things with, and the rest is a mixture of your periphery vision and what your mind makes up. This blending magic is easier if the colours and textures of the landscape that your mind is making up is uniform (white grills on white ice). Another way you can help is to try moving the cage up or down/closer to your face/farther away from your face in order to give your central vision a clear path between the grates. You can do this by flipping up the helmet connector, or by adding washers to them.

Great advice. This has happened to me before in other application. A tiny bit is all you need.

I use a spray to keep my fishbowl from fogging, but if I forget, I take off my helmet and squirt ice water on it, that seems to keep the fog away for at least one period.

Very desperate for help fixing uncommon skate profile problem
Giltis replied to Shaine's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Yeah I've recently started taking out the footbeds from Trues every single time I'm done skating. It only took once out of curiosity to see how much sweat was retained in the skate. -
I did the same switch from the old style stock holders to the SB4.0, and it feels great. Nothing I didn't get used to after a couple of times out. Switching to SB4.0 feels better on hard starts and stops, but on the other hand feels a bit like I'm catching my toes a little during long strides. I was measured to be a bit faster, but there are so many factors a play that I don't think I can say that really.

This is anecdotal, but you may find that if you do go the Girdle route, it will feel a little restrictive at least in the beginning. But in about a month's worth of playing time, everything seems to settle, and it will fit you like a glove. That being said, don't be afraid to try to adjust the straps in various places to be more comfortable. I have the 7092 Tacks and it's been incredible, however the Warrior and True comes with a pocket for jock/jill, and I might try that setup in the future.
-
I'm happy with my 7092 Girdle, but this would have been a good choice too it seems.
-
Does this one have an integrated cup? I think I heard the Warrior one does.

I like that the business part of the mechanism is recessed, I don't like the fact that it requires a tool, but it seems like the regular Bauer one needed a tool sometimes to release the blade anyway. The barb does in fact look quite long, but I trust that it's for a reason.

A thought about CCM custom build skates
Giltis replied to Jeff Rumson's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Some formatting and editing would help, so I took the liberty in doing so, I did the best I could. Let me know if my interpretations are wrong -
I would get a refund from Pure, then walk myself over to another TRUE dealer (if available) and get my skates made there.
-
I've been a Easton/CCM guy all my life, not sure where to start with Warrior and True. I was thinking of getting both this Summer, mid-range or Pro-Stock, low-ish kick, similar to a P29 (although I've been meaning to try the P30).
-
If it's only been 5 weeks, I would contact them ASAP to start a conversation with them on what they suggest. @Sniper9 is right on the money with regards to that bake technique though.
-
If you look back a little you can see the history of events, but the short version is that I did try the TRUE's for a bit (5 months), I wanted to give it a try at least. I didn't like the holders, they clicked when I walked and felt heavier/bulkier (not sure if it was actually heavier). To be fair, when I contacted them about the clicking issue, they sent new holders right away, but since I was going to have to take the holders off anyway and I had some SB4.0 Step's Blacksteel already from my older skates, I decided to put those on instead. If I were you though, and if I could wait another month, I would try the new True holders that's going to come out. I certainly wish I had waited had I known.
-
I have the exact setup, True with SB4.0 and Blacksteel. To me, the trouble was well worth it.
-
That holder looks almost looks like a Marsblade-esque thing with a quick-release.
-
Punching out is only meant for little sore spots, not for the whole skate. You may be looking at purchasing a new skate unfortunately.
-
My CCM Tacks Girdle felt so tight when I first wore them, I almost returned them, but after adjusting the leg straps and about a month or so everything kinda fell into place. It fits me perfectly now, I couldn't go back to regular pants anymore.

Testimonial for Monty Hockey’s Blade Coating Service
Giltis replied to bunnyman666's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Honestly, probably used as a justification method to stop folks from wearing really obviously outdated helmets.
