  1. Oh, that makes sense. I guess they could try to run the eval thingy right after your leagues championship game in order to get a schedule created. I was in a league where they added two new teams one week after the start. It screwed up the scheduling. For whatever reason, we were playing two other teams for like 30% of the time.
  2. Well, it sounds like the schedule is hinging on how many total teams there are going to be at each level. My suggestion would be for your league to push up the eval thingy sooner, like maybe 6-8 weeks before you begin.
  3. Not a dick move, but I don't know why the ref would let a player dictate when the clock gets run out. The ref should have had the face-off with 6 seconds left and let the players on either team dictate how aggressive or not-aggressive they play after the face-off.
  4. Multiple rinks, multiple leagues. Ottawa, Ontario Hamilton, Ontario Toronto, Ontario Buffalo, NY Pittsburgh, PA
  5. I was using a Sher-wood BPM150 last year. I got it on sale from hockey monkey. It's 415 grams. Really light to me, coming from two-piece carbon fiber shaft/blade combos. I cut off a couple inches due to my height so I guess it's a sub 400 gram stick. I ended up getting a flex 95. Should have gone with 85 looking back. I like the feel on slap shots and snap shots.
  6. I would suggest looking for clearance hockey skates. Any model from the past 3 years will be lighter and stiffer than your 152's. You could always get them replaced with TUUK holders. Skates holder designs have improved through the years, but they still are riveted to the boot.
  7. I always wear full-face mask. After having used a variety of cages in white and black, I prefer clear full-face mask. Bauer Concept III
  8. What is your street shoe size and what is your skate size?
  9. There's a physical therapy business I've been to in the past: shoulder, leg, hip stuff. I'm like a repeat customer.
  10. The surgery was successful, i.e. I didn't die, and my feet and legs work. I do have a lot of pain at the surgical site.
  11. Thanks for responding. My lower back pain/sciatica symptoms are slowly getting worse. It started with tightness in glutes and hamstrings, chronic. Now, I get tingling down the right leg, and/or right foot. Sometimes I can jog a bit without any issues, like to cross the street faster because a car is coming, and sometimes, that short 5 step jog to the sidewalk is very painful. Sometimes, my right foot is dragging, when I start to walk, involuntarily. During one game, my right leg was also dragging while skating forward. I've had various surgeries and orthopedic surgeries, ACL reconstruction, shoulder labrum repair, hip arthroscopy. This would be my first spinal surgery. I'm a bit worried, but am also putting my faith in God to not worry. My mom has sciatica and had back surgery. Didn't increase the pain, but didn't decrease it, and laminectomy was performed. No fusion.
  12. Hi, yeah so my body is breaking down. I had hip arthroscopy earlier this year and I thought that was related to my back pain. After I recovered from my hip surgery, the back pain came back. I told my doctor about it at a check up and he said it was possible sciatica. I go to a neurologist, he orders an x-ray and MRI. I looked at the images and one of the vertebrae isn't aligned. 🤕 Lumbar region, L3 and L4. So that was causing nerves to get touched. I'm getting surgery soon. Anyone get this done and go back to hockey or did you just hang up the gloves?
  13. A little late, but here's a link https://sarnia-sting-store.myshopify.com/ Store is open during games.
  14. I live a boring life. No lie. I'm sorry. 🤣
  15. It would be nice but nobody cares. In my league, they only track goals and suspensions on the league's online page. Goals, assists, shots on goal, save percentage, etc. no stats are kept.
  16. Don't want to assume anything since you are new to skating. Do you tighten the laces very tight starting at the toe and back? Tightening the skate this way pushes the foot back. Anyway, what's your street shoe size and what's your skate shoe size? Do you have wide, narrow or regular feet?
  17. I'm back on the ice. I played on pick-up game and got onto a team and played one game. We don't have a game this week but I skated today during an open skate time. Hip feels fine. I'm still getting lower back, butt and hamstring muscle tightness so its possible I have sciatica. In last week's game, I had a tingling in my right calf while skating for a couple of seconds. Aside from that, my cardio endurance is trash. I got pretty tired in third shift because I was skating hard every shift... as I got onto a new team and don't want to look like a slow mover.
  18. Well, getting up after a fall doesn't really require use of the arms and/or stick. I think most of your problem is due to your weight. When I am down, I get back up by getting in a position where both knees are on the ice, then one knee is on the ice and the other skate is on the ice. From there, I push up with my leg to get my other skate up to the ice. It's sort of a one-leg squat. To be doing a one-leg squat with 300 lbs. is pretty difficult. 19. Anything from 2 to 44 unless your goalie has a high 20s/low 30's already taken. It's not rocket science.
  20. Well, I can just recommend going to public skating times where people are there for recreational skating, no hockey. There you work on all your skating skills, stopping, turning, going forward and backward.
  21. Much like other pro sports venues, it is used for other events too, concerts, expositions, etc. No ice hockey at the Bell Centre in the summer. Any pre-season ice hockey stuff to prepare for the regular season is done at their practice facility, Complexe Sportif Bell in Brossard. There's a fan gift shop on the outside of the Bell Centre to get Canadien's fan gear.
  22. I got the hip arthroscopy done and am walking around without crutches. They didn't shave off the cam bone spur. Doctor didn't think it was necessary after looking at it from the arthroscope. No labrum was torn so it didn't need to be reattached, but the edges were rough so that was shaved down. He saw a lot of arthritis so hip replacement is in my future.
  23. Edge of the joint, minor labral tears and cam bone spur. I did a lot of weight lifting through the years and heavy barbell squats was a regular/weekly thing. I played the goalie position too, but didn't play butterfly style.
  24. I don't think Canadian Tire would buy Sher-wood to ruin the brand name recognition that comes with the Sher-wood products. I just bought a BPM 150 stick. It's quite light.
  25. Did your hip issues cause muscle tightness? I had a cortisone shot in my hip and that made things better. Pain went away. For a while, I started getting lower back tightness, hamstring and glut tightness to where I couldn't do leg workouts in the gym. I could play hockey, but I would start the game off a bit tight and need to stretch after each shift. I hope the surgery will get rid of the tightness long term.
