They need to play like they did in Game 3. I wouldn't mind seeing a couple fights, even though that's not the point of the game. Since I'm a Canadiens fan, I just want to see the Bruins lose.

I'm guessing Boston is going to go into revenge mode in the first period. That's a prediction, but they might hold back. Bozak should watch his back. Defense needs to keep the crease blocked from traffic. That dude knocked it out of his hand on purpose late in the third period... junior hockey shenanigans.

Oh, it's getting dirty.
-
I've never heard of a goalie going through a catch glove every three weeks though. I thought they would use two or three a season.

This is an interesting article on Halak. He says he doesn't have a practice glove, his game glove has a practice palm. Game palm is too thin for him. It also says he replaces his catch glove/trapper every three weeks. Not sure what that is about considering a glove costs about $500. Article is from 2010. https://ingoalmag.com/interviews/ask-a-pro-jaroslav-halak-on-new-gloves-and-old-coaches/

They are probably all broken in, and its just personal preference in how they store them in their locker. Goalies usually break in brand new gloves during practices and use old gloves in regulation games until their new gloves are broken in.

Rask on the left has two pairs or trappers and blockers, but Allen has three trappers and two blockers. When did three trappers become a need?
-
Oh, every team has an exhibition game in your league?

Tampa Bay were the front runner in the Eastern Conference. Tampa was first in their division, and first in the conference. You could "rationalize" the top four teams of the Eastern Conference as "front runners". Calgary was the front runner in the Western Conference. You could rationalize the top four teams of the Western Conference as front runners too.

Meaningless game? That's interesting. Our league has a schedule and when your team loses twice in the playoffs, you are eliminated. Also, they are stingy on ice time (and money) and wouldn't accidentally schedule a meaningless game, i.e. game to determine 3rd place.

A bunch of calls were missed in yesterday's game. Either they aren't catching them or they want to see some fights develop.
-
Yes, I mean neither were in first place at the end of the regular season.
-
First goals by St. Louis were nice. First goal by Boston was an interesting mid-air redirect. So far, good hockey. I wish I were there. Some interesting food is being served.
-
Not sure if anyone is watching, but, I'm looking forward to seeing this. Neither were front-runners in the regular season.

I went from Warrior Bonafide medium to CCM HPUCLP medium. The Warrior fit loose. A smidge heavy but gave total coverage. The UCLP are tight-fitting but very light in weight. Padding is solid, more padding in the tailbone back area which I need/want. You pull out the tail bone protection flap and there are three big segmented sections with a PE plate on each one, like you expect to get checked from behind by Brad Marchand.

Okay. Sounds interesting. It would be costly for me, travel, food and lodging, not including the $135 event fee. Hope you all have fun though.

Not to sound like a complete noob/outsider, which I am, but looking at last year's event itinerary, it involved a pre-event dinner, a manufacturer product demo, a two-hour pickup game, and a post-game party. The $135 covers the pre-event dinner, ice-time, and post-game dinner. If the pick-up game is the lowest of reasons to attend, is this some mega-foodie affair?

Hi, the link points to the 2018 summer jam. I see the 11th summer jam is in Chicago, IL. How much does it cost? Never been. What's the skill level? From the 2018 itinerary, there's just one two-hour game.

It's mid-May. About a month from my last post. Today, I ran 2 miles in 19 minutes 22 seconds. I was breathing hard in the last two minutes. At least my back is doing well under that duress. When I was in really good shape, I was able to run 2 miles in under 16 minutes. I'm off my old pace.

Having watched the second and third periods for game 1, it looked like the Blues were having trouble getting traction, playing their game, being in control. You can't gauge the entire series on one game, so I hope the Blues can get back in gear for the other games.

I had Mega Air 90s too. They had white Tuuk holders. That weird plastic clip on the inner foot was strange. They were awesome.

Packing it up and moving down south to Arizona...
caveman27 replied to VegasHockey's topic in General Hockey Discussions
You'll probably want to do some in-depth market research to see how feasible it is. -
Watching today's game. Should be good.

These are 2015 CCM Jetspeeds in size junior 5.5 EE (whose current equivalent are size senior 6.0 EE JetSpeed FT1). My previous skates were Bauer Supreme 6000 in 6.0 D that I bought back in 2010. Before that, I had Micron Mega 10/90 in 6.0 D that I bought back in 1992... Ray Bourque was the face of Micron skates in ads back then. Fit --- 10/10 --- I baked these at home once and it took awhile for them to break in. I played in a league where we had one game a week so it took about three months before they felt good. The right foot felt fine but the left foot didn't feel good until three months later. I guess my left foot is a bit wider. Compared to the Bauer's, these felt great, especially when skating backwards; they didn't hurt my heel. They came with the CCM custom insoles which I put in. Now, I can wear these for a long time without any pain. Blade/Holder --- 10/10 --- The came with the polished SpeedBlades on 4.0 holders. I got the custom sharpened with 8' radius and 1/2" ROH at noicingsports. I came from using Step steel blades on my Bauer's. These had less steel at the toe and heel out of the box compared to the Bauer blades. I don't get any issues while skating in these. I used blue Loctite threadlocker on the nuts after I put the blades back on. Weight/Protection --- 10/10 --- These skates are the lightest I have ever skated in. Compared to the Bauer's, these are exponentially lighter. The old Bauer's had leather in the inside ankle area. These skates have all man-made materials, no real leather anywhere. Durability --- 9.5/10 --- I have only worn these through one whole (beer league) season as I have been sidelined with injuries. Intangibles As short as I've skated in these skates, one of the skate laces have been wearing down but I don't see any sharp edges near the eyelet that it goes through on the left skate, but the right skate lace is not worn down at all. Maybe there's something I don't see. The ankle padding is great and tongue padding is great. No pain with the laces tightened down. I like the top edge padding on the boot. I don't have to wear long socks anymore. With the Bauer's that had a leather top edge, it would wear into my skin. These are so light, I have no idea how the can make a more lighter skate boot unless they make the toe box out of carbon fiber. Conclusion 49.5/50 Not sure if I'll ever switch back to Bauer skates.

When Did You Get Bored With Acquiring New Hockey Gear?
caveman27 replied to beerleaguecaptain's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Well that's true, it's not cheap. I'm just saying the options of goalie gear are wider than with player equipment. OP has run out of options and is bored. I'm just trying to help.
