  1. Skating, try and describe the difference you are feeling . Or even take video of your self in both conditions. Then I can give you some idea in a more accurate way . Another thought is weight: I am not current on knowledge of equipment weight but we certainly know it's adding weight to you . That can add significant increase in friction at the skate and the ice . It could be something as simple as a shallower hollow. Not knowing how you skate :form ,stride , If your skates are too tight. When I take on a student the first thing I do after getting them to stretch is sit with them and check is there sharpening, then I check skate fit : a large percentage have skates on that are too big . Then I see how they put them on : large percentage have there skates way too tight . If this is the case I explain the restricted movement on the rubber ,I show them my laces and my amount of movement. Then I lace there skates snug and leave the top two eyelets undone. Then we hit the ice . And I say take a couple laps take a video. Then I ask was there any difference on how you felt now compared to before. Almost all say I got better push and the skate feels sharper . Then I go over the video and show them the ideal body position in slow skating or even standing still. Then we work on him or her getting in proper form . All done slow . more info then you wanted I'm sure . But hope it can help
  2. 9/16 is good . Have you ever taken power skating? I find it gives players a more positive edge. Nice that you are all skating on the same hollow.
  3. Ok head gasets on an infinity what size engine? And most importantly how was the head gasket condemned.:: combustion gasses in the coolant? Or milky oil . Milky oil is a sign of moiture or even to much oil in the vehicle. Ther are different test and procedure to condemn a head gasket . The chemical test hits them all and gives you data in minute ..... I have worked as a profeprofessional auto tech since I was ten . Had to pay for hockey. So when My knee got Ruined i did the car thing.. ASE master tech ,taught at tech college. Two reasons head gasket fail. Over beating and a high ph . That eats the gasket.
  4. I have to buy a spinner set up or make the rig and just buy the spinner. From being away from hockey for years to heal alot has happened. I heard about the fbv and thought oh boy another gimmick, but I'm hearing all good about it . When I played I skated on 3/4 . Now 5/8
  5. Really cool stuff: so to acquire bit coin. You have to accept bit coin as payment, purchase bit coin with standard currency, or be a miner an be rewarded by keeping the book ? I'm curious about the purchase of bit coin: big brother knows when regular currency is withdrawn: is there a tax on the front side when the bit coin is purchased with that money? For the folks that have been in this for significant amount of time with healthy gains make bit coin loans? If so how is the risk measured ?
  6. I found a documentary too. I will watch the video. Totally get now the entire point of it is not having a gate keeper.
  7. The bit coin ,if I understand it correctly is like a bartering aggreamt . You do for Fred he pays you in bit coin. Then this ether currency can be used on other goods and services, or let it sit and become stronger? Where does the the increase of value come from? Hoo is the gate keeper of bit coin ? It' fn genius at its origin ; some one put a number of bit coin in a file and then used it to buy goods or services. How much he was able to get for x amount of bit coin established a value for the currency that is pretty much there in theory. And there is no tax on bit coin.???? Am I on the right track? What scare me the U.S . Achilles heal is the dollar .we want more ,the government wants more. So we have a precarious game of chicken happening. Mean while product is be produced and, being sold using the dollar to vendors.,who then sell the product and they participate with the bitcoin system. What protections does the bit coin have ? Can the gate keeper say at any given time This all was a social experiment. The process can possibly put the value of the the dollar in the toilet. For there has to be currency to complete the cycle? I' m just thinking out loud , thinking this could be used too cripple the country
  8. I don't blame you .. I am severely dyslexic. Anything with distinct importance I try to listen about. And hear information then stew on it pondering who's information has logic and who is just showing off with a thimble full of information . When I had my auto repair shop, I parlayed with buying private owner used cars ,so my customer gave me . I would put my money into inventory and trying to ge lots of exotic auto wor. . But I never did stocks ,not even 401 k because of the reading so I did things my own little way .
  9. Is your only reward the product coming to fruition and receiving it; or do you receive others for believing and helping get the product off and running?
  10. Sounds fascinating. I have to find information that is visual . Graph or out line format or listen about it.
  11. Colins, I'm happy you love your machine . And I want the machine and the company to thrive . I'm a fan of the machine . My points I have been doing a poor job of conveying are (1) I don't want the company to get smothered with warranty claims from customer abuse (2) to the people buying it use it as it was designed a family home sharpener (3) if you are buying a Sparx because you don't think you will be able to do the job on a manual machine, stop thinking that . It' not that hard .anyone can do it . I have only good expectations for this machine . I actually reached out to the CEO and threw out a sales strategy that will increase market penetration by at least 40% . And another model idea that saves even more time . Real talk: lots of people are dis honest : we know there will be machines being abused.: from over use, from someone with I don't care not my $$$ attitude , from a team of players doing there skates every day . We know machines are going to be purchased in a way that is going to be used as a family sharpener ,then use for teams or divisions ,uve an entire YH organization . And if the machine breaks because of these things it won' be revealed to the company this is how it was used. Some people are going to get one over on them . (4) not enough time has passed to prove longevity.. My opinion is if the machine is used for what it is intended for it will last along time.
  12. Yeah agreed. To respond to you on my point was trying to make is . If customer x sees one machine is $ and the other is $$ . If the home model is purchased and used to do heavy volume , the company may see warranty claims that should be considered customer abuse. And void the warranty.. I'm looking out for Sparx.
  13. Black stone sells a stand alone wheel dresser that can work on other machines with tables. So being they sell there device to dress wheels on other brands; I bet they would be willing to create a wheel to fit sparks so they create another revenue source. It is a no brainer if that many people want it for a Sparx machine. It's a win. Win for both companies. My machine doesn't have a table to mount the black stone spinner assembly. I would have to make a mount. I have never skated on the fbv nor have I machined it in a skate. I would like to see how that hollow feels .
  14. No you can't have your skates ruined. Im saying if the person is good and he or she is gradually losing business to home machines being use for convenience only. Not because the guy at the shop sucks. If the person is bad at grinding skates, probably bad at the other aspects. That person deserves to go under . Because it's not hard to do a nice job. It's so easy. It should never be messed up . And I realize you can't police why some one buys it . I get that .And if shops are doing hack work they shouldn't stay doing it . And to advocate for sparks, I think it's a good product and does what it' designed to do well I watched it work. What worries me for the company is taking machines back that were abused. I know if that was in my school locker room every player would have fresh edges every time we went on the ice . 17 pair every day for 3 months season 1750 sharpening and if the have a lower level team say that's 1500 one school 3,250 sharpening a season. You use it do you think it will survive that ?
  15. Changing blade holders the rivit arbor is 600 labor to change holders 100 margins on the holder and steels 20% . Laces ,tape, sticks, skate, pads brobably average 30% to 40%margins. The sharpening is gravy after the 170 pair , put a pair of laces and three rolls of tape with a sharpening 40 in the register in 10 minutes . In my area there is 4 times the hockey played now then from when I was a kid . There is one lhs in about 400 square feet , barely hanging on . Then there is the giant . When I was a kid there were two lhs that had inventory one had two sharpening machines, had a 1500 square foot sho. Another one about the same ,less inventory about same size . They did well . Now there gone .
  16. Another thing I'm trying to say is if we want the lhs to be there for proper skate fitting, changing a holder ,all the other stuff that you absolutely need them for ,you gotta give them business or they won't be there much longer .
  17. Bottle: shin guard tape . I would ask an official first. I said if you saw a cage 1 Or dupliskate. ..would you hand your skates over ..... I imagine the fbv is going to be available. What's the fbv like ? Ok is this thread a group of hockey people talking about pros and cons of a product? Or is it about juicing the product ? Every fn con I have spoken of,most in defense of the companies financial interests ; is being defended or responded to in a smart axx snarky way. I'm not being that way to the inclusive you . I hope sparx has a small processor in the machine to count how many passes the machine did over a period of time so they can tell the machine was doing work it wasn't designed to do .
  18. No that's not wtf I'm saying . They are in two separate worlds . I'm saying manual sharpeners are not the magic most think. I'm saying is if the automatic machine is used beyond doing the families skates the machine won't hold up to it .Like a team 16 pair twice a week problems are going to accur . I'm saying if this is the plan you would be better off with a manual machine. And sparx will be better off because they won't be stuck doing warranty work on machines that were essentially abused
  19. Slice a plastic soda bottle and cut it slice it and put it on the posts
