  1. You can go back and forth but I really cant see why you would after trying it! Any chance of it coming to the Hamilton store? I don't see many extended roadtrips for skate sharpenings...mind you, gas is cheaper these days...Hmmm! Come on there Radio.....Oakville is what like 25 min away going down the mountain the new way???LOL Besides Hamilton doesnt have that machine yet. Although it will be the next store to get one!

  3. Neat: http://www.epinions.com/msg/sec_~forums/sh...316/pp_~4#posts Look at the last post there That was my post!@.....
  4. Ok here is the next thing he should notice at his age then. In a game situation or a long practice he should not feel as worn out muscle wise at the end of the game. Mentally he may be pooped as he is trying hard but his muscles will have to work less. |\___/| | | This is what he is skating on now compared to a traditional Sharpening were it is the |\ /| | \_/ | | | OK so the second picture isnt the best !! But you get the picture that you have no choice but to sink further in the Ice on anything 5/8ths or sharper. Were as witht he FBV double hollow you sit more on the ice. I would have to agree that more weight will make a difference after thing about it more. Ok when I previewed it it would come up the way I wanted
  5. Oh of course not arguing.........I guess in my mind it depends on height weight and such.
  6. How old is he and what level of player? Oh yes and how much does he weigh? Not to mention the fact that some people notice their edges more than others. Truly think if you dont tell them what your doing and do a blind test you really can tell the difference. i guess I am sort of lucky having a room at the rink and being able to do the test and get instant results.

  8. Actually JR I had a similar situation and went the longer ones. I just shaved the extra plastic off on the cross grind it fit just fine. I also did Kristen King's skates (Team USA Women's Team) and she had a 1.5 skate and I put a size 3 Tuuk holder and runner on there. Worked very very well. It just takes some trimming. Also JR did you look at "Dannys" skates they had 280's on there and were trimmed to fit.
  9. Now available at the Markham store as well. The only stores set up for it will be (BUT NOT YET) Brampton Mississauga (Dixie) Concord Barrie Stores that have it now Oakville Markham
  10. What if you have 2 Man operated and a Cag One and still have a 40 min wait.....??? Then you're in Canada ;) Thats the best answer ever...LOL Someone should make that into a joke....I know you could and I am sure it would be funny......like what do you call 3 eskimos standing behind a counter in a hockey store.... Skate Sharpeners that are busy......OK so that wasnt really funny.... but hey I was asked one time living in GA. "Hey so how do you get to Canada?" I replied we drive to the border and get on our snowmobiles then drive to our igloos!.......they actually bought it.......it was way to funny....

  12. Yes that is correct you may love the 95/100 right from the get go as I did. However I am telling you for overall speed you have to try the 75/100 its the bees knees just takes a little getting used to with the extra sharpness but the glide is amazing.
  13. Best to ask Steve from Blackstone hard to explain. The 75/100 from what i understand feels like your skating on a 2" hollow when going straight but it has an edge similar to a 3/8ths on the outside edge |\___/| looking something like this....instead of the typical U shape from most hollows. You dont sink in the ice as deep but you have the bite when you need it on corners.
  14. National Sports on Dorval and QEW. I would suggest you try the 75/100 first if that is to much bite on the edge then try the 95/100 but the glide on the 75/100 is just amazing my kid loves it. I did some of the players from the Oakville AA team Minor Midget I think it was and they all loved it.
  15. I would think that would be just as illegal....not a lawyer in the US but I would bet if you put that up you could be sued.
  16. What's the proper term/typical word to use north of the border? Sorry...was just joking around I have only ever heard of getting your skates sharpened and in the now "old School method" putting a hollow in the blade. Of course now with this new method not sure what to call it ..LOL FBV.... Well if you are anywhere near Oakville Ontario you are lucky it is available there.
  17. "Oh, wait a minute. We just sold two pair of hockey skates to customers who have been in the shop getting fitted for about 45 minutes. The wait is now an hour." You havent been to one of our stores used to have a 3 hour wait at one of them!
  18. Well if your in Canada you would be in luck.......but using the word "grind" (not typical in Canada) I would say your not from Canada and are out of luck.
  19. Yes, and it will cut down on how long it takes to sharpen a goal skate (w/ regards to deep hollows) JR I took the plunge and ordered 3 different FBV spinners. I tried the middle one tonight and wow...skating from the blue line to the red I was able to coast all the way around to wear I started. And in talking to Steve after I noticed another thing My knee (arthritis in it) didn't hurt as usual. Although my back was a little sore. After talking we decided you may have to change the center point of the blade as you feel further back after switching the the FBV (don't ask me why). It was also sore because I had more energy from putting out less effort to run the practice and shot a ton more pucks. I think we have a winner here. "how long does it last"? Well I have to say after an hour and 1/2 it still looked like it had not even been skated on. The whole team is getting there's done now as a trial.
  20. I'm not sure. It depends on if England has higher duties from stuff coming from Canada or the US. I'd go with whomever is cheaper, shipping and duties. I had been using NASH but switched to Midwest. Shipping is cheaper and no duties for me. NASH seemed more "informed". Nash is for sure more informed he has been working with them since they came out and was even helping with the whole idea. Ralph is a really great guy and really knows his stuff!
  21. In fact by the end of the playoffs they all had it and I had come to find out they use a Triple Profile on all Players were the Penquins use only the double. There was some very interesting things there. Penguins (hardly anyone on Step and double profile) Redwings (all on Step and triple profiles) Triple profiles - is that different radii for the front, mid, and back of the blade? And, is it blended in by eye, or are there triple profile template bars? also what are the benefits of a triple profile? triple as in 9 10 9 and 9.5 10.5 9.5 are the most common but there are many others! As for the benefits you might want to ask the guys holding the Stanly Cup. There is at the that level but it does take a fair amount of tinkering to get it right. Once it is done right then well the sky is the limit in adjusting it from there to really make the skater fly!
  22. they stock it in Hockey Experts now and if the companies dont start shipping on time I would say that would be a safe bet!

  24. Why? The Pitch steel is perfect. No reason for an aftermarket version. Actually the width of the Step steel would enhance the fit and the performance of the Pitch Holder even more so though.
