  1. Ok. Problem sort of solved. Ibhave a 7 and a 7.5 here. First checked the foam in the toe. No difference in thickness.

2nd looked for other stickers.... none same as mentioned above.

3rd measured the actual skates. 7.5 was infact closer to 5mm longer. So definitely bigger. No ifs and or butts. It's not a toe foam conspiracy.... lol.

Hope that helps. Had me worried for a second.

I'm with you on that.  I stopped doing that because I truly didn't think that I would be able to fully dial in the fit remotely.

A manufacturer last year asked me if I was interested in analyzing scans.  I said sure but nothing ever came of it.

If I was CCM I'd be putting that in the Bio.

    Just saying.

  3. 1. Thos would be for retail fits only.

    2. Everyone mentioned, I do not see any retail expiernece. You can work at the office and have played and still have no clue what your doing.

    3. Only 3 people for 1000's who might want this. 🙈

    4. What if it's the totally wrong fit? Who do you complain to? Do you have to book an appointment?

As mentioned above a manager did a fit and was still wrong.

I get for out of the way areas it's not a bad idea. I started doing this at the end of Corebeam and the beginning of MS. It was way to much work for the time needed for each customer.

If I was CCM or Bauer and they were paying me the right money maybe. But nothing beats the fit and feel.

If this is actually a PRE Fit for before going in a store to purchase and was sold like that well then that would be a good idea. Pay $50 and get $25 off your purchase. A total win win.

    As its advertised... 🥴

Does this really surprise you? Bauer and ccm dominate the hockey business. They offer those online educational programs etc as incentives for employee discounts etc. For a relatively new to hockey company, true has done a pretty decent job in the past five years imo. Better than any other brand such as verbero, trying to make a dent. Sure as hell doing better than Sher wood.

Umm FYI True has a similar deal doing the training for the skates. It's on the management and the company.

I used to head the training dept at a chain and our brand was the leader in Pro shop across 4 families of stores.

And it was the least funded etc. I cared and our employees cared. I have 7 that are now Pro Equipment managers. One is now the first female EQM in PRO Men's hockey in the KHL. One is a buyer for hockey in the main office. And bunch more Dept and store managers. It's all about the culture and how much you care about teaching.

Not looking to fan the True debate, but I see guys jump into them and then at some point jump out.  There were 3 Bruins players (Carlo, Chara, and Coyle) in them and they all switched out.

May have something to do with the rep not being able to get into see them and make adjustments?

Time will tell if the move to nylon/plastic was a bad one.   CCM seems to put a lot of thought/research into the things they're doing lately and they are just now getting back some of the customers they've lost to Bauer (in my area anyway).  Overall this will save them a relatively small amount of money per pair of skates.  I can't imagine they'd spend the time and resources redesigning and testing this piece and then launching it unless they were convinced it would hold up to the intended level of play.

That maybe true and it may be just fine. BUT for 7 8 9 hundred I would like there top pieces in my skates and I have yet to see the ordinal holder have any issues at all.

Can they be swapped out after the fact, or are the holders different to accommodate the cheaper screw? If they're interchangeable at least that should make it easy to swap out if someone can get their hands on the stainless parts.

Easily swapped. Hence why I bought about 100 sets. 🙂

Unless the player specifically asks me for an aggressive forward lean I always profile neutral or add a minimal pitch. I also dont like grinding down the whole front of the blade on a Q0 or a Zuperior.

But if you don't blend it all the way then you are technically not using the first profile so why use it??

    Referencing a Q 0 or Q1

I talked to the guys at Prosharp through YouTube and your right in your logic.  They said they made the Quad 0.5 because people in North America are use to a single profile, so the Quad 0.5 was made to be less jarring for the North Amercian players that has never tried Quad Profiles before.

As mentioned they made the .5 fornthe North American players. At the time I was working with an OHL team that used 9.5 10.5 and wanted to switch but didnt like the 0 or he 1. We asked for the .5 and they made us a template. That's how the .5 came about.

I'd imagine the nylon/plastic is less likely to get rusted and seize but wonder how impact durability is... I guess it's a simple swap of the part anyways if it does break.

The metal ones are stainless.  Never seen rust one a single one yet.

Impact on the new ones is all I'd be worried about.

Post referring that it should be True's responsibility to provide seran or shrink wrap...

As mentioned by many others. Why? That is totally up to the store. Bauer Scanners have to be purchased there not free. Ipads for True are free but are property of True. Not sure how CCM does there's.

But were talking products that are consumables like rivets and helmet screws. No company pays for that stuff you buy your own consumables.

Why would a "custom" skate have so much negative space to begin with that you would need seran wrap or tensor bands for the bake?

Kind of lost how this question is in this section of the thread about the retailers not filling the fit process properly.

I have seen posts from stores posting pictures from all manufacturers that are not being done as per manufacturer instructions.  IE standing in freshly baked skates. (Usually on an IG story).

The in store training is the key.

Not sure how much you've been following vh or true skates but these skates aren't like any other off the shelf skates. You HAVE to bake them. Even the custom skates which are made for your feet, you HAVE to bake them otherwise they don't even feel like they were made for your feet.

The small mom and pop shops are the only ones id go to for fittings. Big box stores, nope.

I can also vouch for bsharp. I follow them on IG and heard great things from them from buddies in Ottawa.

Actually I would go by mom an pop and pro shops that have staff wearing the product and have a couple hundred fits by now.

So my LHS received these today so I went to give the TF9 a try, I'm coming from a Bauer 1S 7EE, the guy yanked out a foot measuring thing, i would of though they would of scanned my foot and told me my size, my foot came out to a 7.5, I said give me the Wide... they seemed to have room at the toe so I tried a 7W, I could not make up my mind on witch size to go with, add to the fact that the store had no idea about the customer appreciation discounts... I decided to sleep on it

My overall impression of the skate are good, better finish then the customs I've seen in the past, better finish then Bauer IMO...

The skates are very hard to put on and take off, its also very hard to lace a hole once you have em on, i never managed to, I had to take em off, you have to pry these off your feet...

Skate is very stiff, having no toecap makes the overall feel very different

I did not mind the tongue...

The holder looks sharp, pitch feels forward, hard to not have a knee bend... The steel is very low as compared to Bauer or CCM and they had no replacement steel in store yet, I was not so hot about the fact that the holder holes don't lineup to a TUUK, does not look like a clean swap

Foot-bed is mushy, makes it difficult to tell where your toes are at the end of the boot...

I'm sure web sales where fantastic but i feel the ball was dropped in my part of the world, Ottawa Canada, when it comes to releasing these skates, they came out so heavy on the custom end, you'd think they'd use some of that tech to help me figure out what size to buy, I never felt my heel sit in back of the boot properly (heel lock) to give me confidence in witch size I need... The LHS had basically no more of the saran wrap required for fitting, so True sent the skates but not all the tools required for the proper fitting...

Looks like a great product but cant tell if i fit in it...

If in Ottawa you should be going to BSharp to be fitted.

All stores have been given all the information to do the fittings properly.  Sounds like they didn't bother to do the fitting seminar online.

Yup, QC is the name of the game here for True. I know a few shops who are not stocking the retails and stopped doing fittings for custom Trues even, just because of how many build issues there were. I'm expecting the retails not to have that issue, but if this first batch winds up not being great, they might have a very tough time overcoming that reputation. They're gonna end up like Easton

It's probably a good thing they stopped doing customs if they were having so many issues. Dollars to donuts it was a scanning issue. Of the last 200 pairs I have done I have had 1 rebuild.

I have had a couple boot fractures of high end players from shot blocks. But we had Pro returns they could borrow and had the skates repaired in days.

The quality has just been getting better and better.
