Yes, that is the whole point of the FBV. More straight line speed while retaining the grip of a standard hollow.

90/75 is fairly similar to 5/8 but the difference is very noticeable to me. I can't imagine going back and forth all the time, it seems kinda pointless. Pick one and use it.

I don't know anyone locally that has gone back, and I have had a number of guys ask me for "that new sharpening thing". Last I heard most NHL teams had made it available to their players, very few have not.

Found some "passover coke" mixed in with the regular stuff at the store yesterday. The bonus is that coke was also on sale this week. I am now stocked up with enough rum and coke to cover the needs of the neighborhood for a long time.

I've had my X02 for 18 months and I'm just about ready to start using my second wheel. I haven't counted, but I know I am well north of 100 pair on the first wheel and set of spinners.

I hate jackasses in a beer league. One two handed chop over the head and a check from behind that put me through the goalie and into the boards head first tonight. Assholes like that shouldn't be allowed to play in a rec league.

I haven't seen many of these guys play, so I can't speak with any authority on the issue. The draft is often a crapshoot and further development depends on the player and the team that drafts him, so nothing is a sure thing. That said, I have to believe someone that does it for a living when he is talking about the talent level overall and not just one player here or there.

Caught a blurb last night from one of the guys in central scouting that said guys into the teens could compete for NHL jobs next year and players from the third round this year will be playing within a couple years. Funny how what was reputed to be a weak draft is now one of the deepest in recent memory according to him.

If it's a slow game with a lot of whistles, it's not hard to get the minutes up for a star player without running him into the ground.

Last night my last flight home was supposed to leave at 10:54, making it impossible to get to my 11:15 game. Instead, we landed at 11 and I was on the ice before the first period was over. I had to borrow a stick because I didn't plan on being there, but I still got an unexpeted chance to skate.

I remember listening to Lange argue with a regular succession of partners over the years. He's much better on radio where you can't see his play calling is often inaccurate and misleading.

Pittsburgh is the only market where guys like Lange and Myron Cope would ever be considered iconic broadcasters. In any other market, they would have been unemployed.
