Only caught the 3rd tonight, but Thomas has really stepped it up lately. I feel like once their in the playoffs, he is going to kick it to another level.

Im mixed on the issue. I love the fact that OV dropped the gloves (even took off the helmet), but i was upset to see Bradley jump in there. It shows to me that OV is willing to do more on the ice than just score goals for his team. His backcheck has improved immensely since given the C. I wonder if this will last, or if its just him feeling some pressure. On the otherhand, I have to give Bradley credit for knowing his role and protecting the teams biggest star and asset. While seeing OV throw some punches would have been a great sportscenter moment, props have to be given to bradley for taking a few punches for someone else's feud. -

Most GMs want at least one veteran netminder when they head into the playoffs. i already thought of that. we'll bring artus irbe out of retirement for a few weeks. Ship out Theo and bring Biron in via a separate trade. I think the Caps would take back a little salary on theo and loose a 2nd rounder from Biron but would also free up another 2-3 million in cap space. Then you have the room to bring in a top notch Defensemen. This is what i would try to do anyway. -
I want to go on record and say Burke f***ked this team when trading for Kessel. This team needed a full blown rebuild, not a half assed reload. Good luck making a serious run at the cup for the next 5 to 8 years.

My favorite part of the interview was when he said he's only been a Caps fan for a year. Granted i started following them since the OV draft, but at least i didnt do that... -

Oh god... http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_dadd...maining-content At least this is better than some other team oriented songs I've heard. -
I gotta say i was never sold on Richards or Carter. I thought of Carter as more of a flash in the pan than a legit 50 goal threat. Richards I had pegged as a 60 to 70 point 2-way centre. Having not watched a lot of flyer games except for the two on Long Island, i cant comment on his defensive game, but offensibly seems right where he should be. A lot of people expected him to progress into a 90 point player this season, but thats just unrealistic. The captain issues are of another matter. Hard to put the finger on the problem with this team, but maybe they will 'reload' like last time and be a force next year.

I think it depends on who they decide to go after. If they try to get into the Kovalchuk sweepstakes then that will likely cost a Leafs pick. Any Kovalchuk deal for me would be contingent on a long-term deal. I wasn't aware the Bruins had 9 to 11 million in cap space next season... <_<

There are a few guys that are UFA at the end of the season that would make good deadline deals to improve the roster, if the price is right. I don't see them making a trade for a significant player with a number of years left on his contract. They just won't have the cap space to do that. The bigger issue is if Washington would be willing to give up picks or players that they will have to see a bunch of times a year. I don't think the Caps would mind giving up draft picks. Their system was so overflown they had to put Neuvirth in the ECHL for a while because they just didn't have the room. Him, Carlson, Osala, Johansson, Perreault, Gustafsson... they have prospects. I wouldn't mind this year's 1st and 2nd picks go to someone else so long as the caps get back an elite NHL defencemen. -

Bring on the Neids to Washington rumors. This team will make a big splash before the deadline. Guaranteed. -
That sounds like a tie to me.

Wait... Was that a home game? <_< Markov with two goals last night.

It's been like that since he entered the League. Sad thing is every team knows it too.

Tonights game gave me an lol. 8-2 on the road? wow. And Tomas Fleishmann is really playing well. He is quickly becoming another offensive weapon for a team that already has some studs. -

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=300811 hawks ain't gonna change much next few years Hence the use of the past tense, "The thought WAS......" I'd just like to go on the record now that giving Keith a no movement clause might be the dumbest thing I've seen in a long time. WOW. Did they really? I understand the thinking behind the long term deals, get a great player for cheap on the cap hit and lock him up young for a long time... but to handicap yourself like that with a NMC really screws them over. I'm with Chadd on this one. Chi will regret that at some point in his career. You would think a 13 year deal would make him almost immovable to begin with... When will GMs learn.

A game or 3, but i can't see them giving 5+ to him like I have heard others cry for. -
I get the impression that Wilson is a bad coach for kids. If it were a team of slacking vets, he'd be the man for the job.

I went to a Bears game a couple weeks ago and wouldn't put too much hope into those young d-men for this season. Obviously one game isn't a good indicator of overall performance, but they certainly didn't stand out at the AHL level. Well I don't expect Alzner to really stand out. That's not really his game, he's no puck moving Dman or big nasty hitter. He has a nice all around game without too many weakness's. He's played at the NHL level and is more than capable. Carlson on the other hand could really use this full year in the AHL. He's still getting used to the grind and travel of the Pro game. Pothier, Jurcina, Morrisonn and Sloan are all UFAs. Id expect to see two of them walk. -

I actually don't mind them. He's one of the leaders in takeaways because he goes for the puck every time. He tries to pickpocket everyone. And the PK has been SO much better this year compared to last. PS. Flash is a beast. PPS. Nylander waived by the Capitals. From Hockeybuzz: 'Nylander Finally Placed on Waivers Possible suitors: Detroit, Colorado, NY Isles, Coyotes and Edmonton(yup, even them). Though Nyls is not likely to be picked up on this round, this move likely indicates that the Caps are ready to eat half of Nylander's salary and that there is another team waiting to take him on re-entry. Now, this isn't a for sure thing, but pushing Nylander's contract off of the total cap hit will make the Capitals one of the most dangerous Buyers in the NHL. I do not think that this move signifies that Michael is accepting a deal to Russia or Europe but more likely that one of the injury depleted teams across the league has indicated they will take #92. Keep in mind that Michael had to give his "OK" to this move, so it must mean there is something on the table that interests both the team and Nylander. Either way, this officially spells the end of Nylander's tumultuous times in DC. Good luck Michael, wherever you end up!' Also heard that if he isn't picked up on the 1st go around, he would be going to Europe. If the Caps can get off the hook for his full salary... wow. They can finally bring up some of their young Dmen and possibly sign Foppa or some other UFA towards the deadline for a serious push for the cup. -
wow. Can the Bruins copycat the Canadiens any more? From on the bubble, to a surprise run to the top, to oh shit what happened? On the bright side, Toronto totally blows.
