  1. Whats the deal with the eagle CP94? i see a few pro stock sets out there, but they arent on the website and I never see them in stores. from the look of them I think i'd rather have them than ppf or x70/x72s. Is it an old model they dont make anymore? or is it just a pro model only?
  2. Got a question about a possible "trend" in tattooing. I started wearing #13 as much as possible in about 2001, and always liked roman numerals, so of course I often doodle XIII on my stuff when Im bored. I wouldn't get a tattoo of it, but I've begun seeing it occasionally tattooed on people, and it's ALWAYS XIII. Anyone know whats it about? It seems somehow related to music based on the people I see it on and their other tats, but I've never botherred to ask about it.
  3. You were the kid in kindergarten who always forgot to bring in his toy and would just stand up there trying to tell us about how cool it was, weren't you? ;)
  4. I think showing up to stick time with full gear is definitely over the top. I can see wearing the bottom half since there is a huge difference skating with pads on versus just sweats. The rink definitely needs to enforce the rules because you are right, there is going to be a disaster down the road. On a slightly different topic, the rink near my house recently had two different stick times during springs vacation for the school kids. One was for up to 12 years old (and parents) and another for 13 and up. I think that this is a good way to avoid disasters with older guys and young kids. Obviously this depends on having the ice time available to do this. I'll admit I've gotten my little brothers and my cousins together and we've comandeered one of the zones for 4 on 4 or whatever (commandeered as in showing up early, not pushing anyone around). I can see how maybe it wouldn't be a good idea. On a similar note, my two little brothers (13 and 15) tried to play goalie for about a year, just at sticks and pucks. One of them would gear up, and me and the other one would take shots and work on form and technique. However, because there was a goalie, we constantly had people we didn't know wanting to fire away shots on a goalie instead of an empty net. Too often any practice or training would dissolve into a breakaway line, with a new goalie facing repeated breakaways, pretty much the most difficult thing for a goalie to do, rather than practicing angles or movements on shots they would see more than once a game. More than once I would be trying to coach or advise my little brother and some one fires a puck at an upright goalie with his hands at his side. SOmething I've never understood, but in the future, make sure the goalie is actually planning on taking your shot before you let one rip.
  5. aw, i was really hoping for a hasek/gaborik ending to that, followed by a sarcastic *Tap Tap*
  6. Millionth view gets custom MSH warrior franchises courtesy of JR! (I didn't say it, but now that you mention it...)
  7. Not to hijack the thread but.....Is this a general rule with goalies? That they prefer the seats closest to the door? Our goalies dwell in the deepest darkest corners of the locker room, so they get in everyones way, take up as much space as possible and stumble all over your equipment while they're trying to awkwardly get out of their space. Also they refuse to sit anywhere else. Is all this normal? They are not normal. They are goalies. :P
  8. You know what? it's great that a couple of the guys from the club team showed up to drop-in now that the season is over. And it's cool that a kid who plays Junior came over from Flint to skate with us. but sorry buddy, no matter how many times you hog the puck, force bad shots, and screw up deke moves through four opponents, three teammates and the zamboni, no one is going to come up to you after the skate and ask you to try out with them next season. Pass the puck.
  9. Does anyone know what kind of palming options he has? I was planning on a premium palm from FIBM (MSH2 again or maybe Nash) but I also amd considering a cuff shortening and if he can do both that'd be a better route for sure. Does he do mail ins?
  10. Try an all black glove with an orange cuff, orange piping, and white letters with black outline.
  11. Agree on the job interview. My younger brother just got a tattoo on each wrist. I love the concept, the initials of two close friends who died in a car crash, but I would not be surprised if down the road it hurts him because the interviewer disapproves.
  12. That's something I like doing. If I spend a decent amount of time with a customer, I should be able to remember what he/she purchased, so I'll try to bring it up the next time they come in. Obviously you can't do it with every customer, but whatever... Ran into one of my LHS's workers at the supermarket the other day, he asked me how the helmet and skates I got with him were doing and he made a comment about not seeing me in a while. I made it a point to stop by a few days later and spend $50. bet you'd never do that for the guy at the deli counter no matter how good the service is ;)
  13. I still cant believe I even saw this. We get a new guy, obviously not very secure on his skates but hes hustling and making the effort and having fun. We get towards the end and his team is giving him the puck to carry up and pass or shoot. Well one hotshot had enough of it. As soon as the new guy gets the puck in the zone, his TEAMMATE stick lifts him and races off to the goal with it. Wow. It was sad to watch.
  14. So? Some guys are like my dad wearing Bauer Supremes from 1989, and sweatpants over their shinguards. Other guys like Me just genuinely like hockey gear. I know I shoot the same in premium or pro stock gloves as I do when I borrowed my little brothers no name (AHS) gloves. I just like the pro stock better. I would play the game with rolled up magazines tied to my legs If I had to, but I dont have to, and theres no reason for you to be so judgemental about the things 90% of us here on MSH like. No ones judging you, this isn't PHEW. Good point, coudln't agree better. PHEW takes it way too far, sure its nice to have good style and a nice flop but they tell off just about everyone without 4 rolls, a 4500 helmet and flopped skates, not to mention they always catch on to latest fads. I was tired of people not knowing nothing on there. and then en masse like little lemmings they all decide they are tired of seeing 4500's, flop, flow, and four rolls. I sometimes wonder exactly how much gear they think is out there?

  16. Might not be worth the pain in the ass dealing with the bridge though, seeing I don't have a passport... probably should get one of those don't need a passport until June.
  17. nice, i really like the red/gold PS how did you get the picture/screen grab?
  18. You shouldn't generalize. There's no age limit for being a jerk. Sometimes the opposite happens where an older player is getting past a younger player so he trips or hooks him because he can't swallow his pride. I repeat, there's no age limit for being a jerk. I play with more than a few 25ish players who have the "if only I hadn't torn/broke/injured, I'd be able to keep up/stop you." lines down pat. It's funny to watch them act really petty towards the 19 year olds who still have wheels and are cocky about it, knowing 5 years ago they were the same way.
  19. those are so sweet, love the yelow cuff on the black
  20. Pic isn't showing up for me, anywat you can show another one these gloves sound cool
  21. Cut the strap in 2 and stitch in a short chunk of heavy fabric or elastic. As a quick fix take a chunk of an old sock or terry cloth fabric and stick it on the velcro. good advice, thanks. However I think I've stumbled on a great idea, I'll be sure to post pictures once I give it a shot.
  22. I have a pair of sherwood PMP X8 elbow pads. now that they're nicely broken in, I like the pad, but the bottom strap is not elastic, and is too short, so half the velcro is sitting against my arm, and scratches it up as I move. is it possible for the strap to be removed and replaced with a longer one? any other suggestions?
  23. mostly just don't call for the puck. 70% of the time if you deserve it and are in position to do something with it you'll probably get it.
