New mission skates
vnderachiever replied to teamohiogocincyswords6111's topic in Roller Hockey Equipment
Just popping back in here for anyone on the fence. My FZ-1 have been going strong now for roughly 40 skates, and they feel better than they did on day 1.- 75 replies

New mission skates

Picked up a pair of FZ-1 this weekend, and I can say without a shade of doubt that they're the most comfortable skates I've ever worn.- 75 replies

Mission Helium 3500 from 2006ish
vnderachiever replied to connam06's topic in Roller Hockey Equipment
It would help to know what your budget and play style/frequency are to recommend something new. IIRC, the 3500 was a mid-low end (with the 9500 being the top end). You're likely looking at something like the NLS: 03 or 04 as a current equivalent. The reason your Tour skates feel weird is most likely because they're not a hi-lo setup like the missions. I always felt weird going from Tour to Mission to Alkali and now back to Mission. -
New mission skates
vnderachiever replied to teamohiogocincyswords6111's topic in Roller Hockey Equipment
Don't remember rules for linking, but there's a site that has the full catalog up. Google "inhaler fz-0" and one of the first hits will be a site called R G Hockey with the full catalog.- 75 replies

Inhaler FZ-0 seems to be the top of the line. Junior cadiz just shared on his Instagram. Missions Instagram story has a few increasingly revealing pics- 75 replies

Owner of my LHS said that he had a catalog, but couldn't find it while I was there, which leads me to believe that he doesn't have one yet, but maybe an LHS employee/owner on here can confirm if catalogs are shipping yet?- 75 replies

Looks like I spoke too soon. Two weeks since I received an almost immediate email stating that "George" would send me info about how to get the skates replaced, I haven't heard from George or Joe. Biggest bummer about this whole thing: I've missed 4 games now and at this point i'll be missing the playoffs/finals next week!

Need contact info for Alkali! Hopefully an issue covered by warranty: Update on my RPD Max's after 8 months of usage 1-2 times per week: Noticed yesterday that the chassis is bent on my left skate, front wheel. Only really noticed because I blew out the hubs of three addiction wheels, seems like it's because my wheel is hitting the ground at an odd angle during hard stops/starts/turns. I've heard Alkali has great customer service, I just can't figure out how to get in touch with them :) Edit: found the email for warranty on their site, minutes after I posted this. Hoping to hear back soon, will update. Edit 2: Joe already got back to me (under 10 minutes) and said they're going to take care of it. Awesome company, awesome products!

They fit so similarly, yet so differently at the same time. All I can say is that they are, undoubtedly, the most comfortable skates I have ever skated on. After heating them for the 9 minutes as instructed, they lace up and hug your feet like pillows (literally, this is the only analogy that fits). The next time you put them on, you're good to go. After about three skates I got used to the slight differences in pitch/wheelbase/etc. and my feet got used to the slightly different boot. That being said, a 10.0D vapor and a 10.0 Alkali Rpd Max both had my toes feathering the toe cap until baked.

Just got a killer deal on some Clearance RPD MAX skates. My Bauer x70's are a 10.0 D, so i'm hoping the 10.0 Alkali's will do the trick. Looking forward to trying them out!

2015 Alkali Hockey Catalogue
vnderachiever replied to JR Boucicaut's topic in 2014 Product Catalogues
Has a target release been set for the line? -
Justin, will you be selling equipment this weekend at Narch as well? I was thinking about swinging through to watch a few games and check out the gear.

The shop I go to actually lists the higher end (Right now, APXR) Skates without the wheels and bearings. I don't know what MFR Restrictions are on that kinda thing so i'm not going to provide a name on here. I'm playing at HotSkates and Sportime right now, using 3 orange addicitons and one x-soft addiction as the second wheel in each skate. Back on topic--- really hope our long island shops get some RPD Max's in, i'd love to give them a shot before I splurge on apx2r's.

I would try the Labeda Addiction soft (not the x-soft. I use the orange ones). I'm currently 245, but was skating on those wheels at 305 a year and a half ago and they were great. I'm still using them now for my sport court wheels. If I were you, I would invest in a set of wheels/bearings and find a LHS that will work with you when you buy new skates. On Long Island, I got my RX:60's (When they first came out) with no wheels or bearings, I just kept my old setup. They knocked about $200 off the price. I see that you're in NY, if you PM me and let me know where you play i'll let you know what setup I use.

Having some pain in the outside of my left ankle, ONLY when in a boot and the side of the boot is really digging into it. Feels like a funny bone/nerve twitch kind of sharp pain. Looks to me like Sural Neuritis, just in time for playoffs ><. Needless to say, I went out, bought compression sleeves for my ankle and new footbeds that got me on the rink last night for our game with minimal soreness. Of course, I block one shot with the outside of my right foot, one on the inside of my left foot and one right in the sternum (roller hockey, no chest guard). Icing everything for the next day and a half until round two.

Saw alot of Alkali gear at a memorial day tournament this weekend and I'm intrigued. While I don't need new skates at the moment, I can always use new sticks. Any plans to roll out a kreps/e28 style curve anytime soon? Or is there already one and i missed it?

Roller hockey tournament this weekend, scored 3 goals and had 1 assist in 4 games. Even though one was a deflection, one was a great setup in front by my linemate, and the other I batted out of mid air in front of the net, I'm really starting to feel my game come together. I've never really been a goal scorer, but now that i'm playing alot more and i've dropped alot of weight, my positioning is much better which is leading to alot of chances! Big things to come hopefully!

I spent about a half hour just getting one foot out in front of me and shaving ice to stop, then I decided to just try to get the back skate to slide too. I got into a real low hockey stance (figuring if I fell, i'd have less distance to fall lol), put my right foot out in front and started shaving, and then slowly turned my back skate outward until it was shaving ice as well.
-
First time ever on ice last night, spent two hours straight. Got some speed up, got comfortable stopping with each foot out in front of me, got some crossovers in and had ONE solid two footed stop. Didn't fall once! This is going to get addictive. Feeling like three or four more open skates and I will be comfortable enough to hit an open hockey

Finally made the plunge and bought a pair of Ice hockey skates. Being a roller hockey player for the past 15 years, I always hesitated to hit the ice. Now, I have a pair of Vapor X70's sitting in my room begging to be used! Friday will be my first time on the ice ever!

Dropped 54 lbs in just over 5 months, started at 303 and this AM i'm under 250. i've only played hockey twice in the past 5 months, one time being last friday, and it's ridiculous how much more energy I have out there. the next 30-40 lbs are gonna be the hard part!

I'm pretty sure this is a "venting" thread, where users are entitled to "vent" about whatever they wish. If I'm wrong, correct me, but it sounds like you may have a thing or two that you need to "vent" about in your personal life.

I've basically been playing hockey 2-3 days a week and cut out garbage breakfasts/lunches while at work (which is easy because as long as I pack the right lunch that's what I'll eat). Weekends I'll be a little permissive too, but I switched to only whole wheat bread and cut out all soda. That's the easy stuff, so once I can get back to exercising every day I should be able to drop more off no problem. If only we could get some nice weather here in NY...
