Sex Wax.

My favorite, but not the stickiest. If the wax is too sticky, it will cause the puck to jump a little when you stickhandle.

Sex Wax, Snap Wax, and Ice Wax work for me on the forehand side.

A 10-yr old on my son's team taught me the forehand move. He learned it from an instructor at a summer hockey school.

I have a mid-heel curve, so I have to do it off the toe or the heel. The way I do it off the forehand:

(i) tip the puck onto its bottom corner with both hands below the knees and the bottom of the stick blade just overlapping the top edge of the puck. The forehand side of the stick blade is facing down. The bottom edge's corner that is farthest away from you is the only point of the puck that is in contact with the ice. The puck's top face is flush against the forehand side of the stick blade;

(ii) drag it towards my forehand side to get a little momentum;

(iii) make a little J-hook to keep the flat part of the puck against the blade;

(iv) smoothly flip the stick blade over, from backhand-side up to forehand-side up.

It's easier if you have a whippy shaft.

The backhand side is easier for me. I start with the puck on the heel, tip the puck onto its corner with both hands below my knees, drag it straight in front of me, and flip the blade.

I think it's a good exercise for my hands, like juggling a tennis ball.

Sex Wax.

Is this the same Sex Wax that is used to wax the deck of surfboards ? If so, what temperature wax (cold, warm, tropical) is used ? Or is it a different formulation altogether ? Because surfboard wax seemed a lot cheaper (haven't bought it for a while) then the ice wax I have been using.

to do moves like the michagan and stuff like that. is it better to have a very flexy stick(50to75), meduim flexy(80 to 95) or stiff(95+)? and what kind of pattern goes good with it??(toe, mid, heel etc.)

To pick up the puck you need to flex the stick down but it all depends if you can flex the stick or not and not a specific flex.

i use to be able to do it with a broken 75 flex si-core shaft and a ccm 1052 blade. I'm sure it wasn't 75 flex andymore beacuse i had to cut alot off.

No clue, the company who makes it makes sex wax too though.

If you want it to be really sticky just put more on. It helps with the move you're trying to do, but it is mostly just technique. Although if you pile the wax on you can pick it up on a dime.

Flex is not a determining factor in the move.It doesnt matter what flex you use to do it and for the curve something with little or no face showing and a toe or mid curve is best.And if you really wanna be good at it dont use wax so you know you can do it without an advantage...

The sticky waxes help me tip the puck onto its corner and keep it there while I do the drag. But, now that I have practiced enough, I can do it without wax.

sex wax smells so good, and it works gresat. if its in your bag it also acts as a fresh scent to counteract hockey smell

For those wondering about the Sex Wax, they make a hockey wax now too -- if you didn't know, or if you were using the surf wax.

It's no better than the cool mix, I've used both.
