Simple. Lots of free agents and few teams with any cash. They all have to sign somewhere and some will have to do so for less money than imagined

detroit papers had a rumor that i don't like. thorton for datsuyk. that would he a horrible trade. btw the bruins signed glenn murray today. i was hopping he would land in detroit. foote signing with columbus i don't like it either. he always played the wings tough and now we have to see him even more.

Hell I'm pumped about what the Leafs have done so far. I've been a big fan of O'Neill since he sank the Leafs in '02. His style of play will fit perfectly with the Leafs. Yes, Allison is a gamble. However, at their age, combined with having a year off, so are Niewy and Roberts. Towards the end of the last season, both of their ages really started to show in their play, with Niewy being hurt and Roberts not performing well. Allison may not be a sure thing yet, but when he is on, he is one of the primere players in the league. I'm really excited about the outlook of the Leafs, although I really think that they need to add depth at defense. I'm not sure who is left in the market, but they need a solid defensive defenseman who can eat up minutes along with McCabe. Of course, that problem would be solved if Cola steps up, but its unrealistic to ask that of a rookie. A good backup and one or two role players wouldn't hurt, either.

Foppa going back to Colorado? Also, it's Woywitka, Lynch and Brewer. Again, super happy that Naslund is coming back to VAN but highly disappointed Brewer to St. Louis.

Allison is apperantly signed for a 1 year deal, league minimum, plus bonuses (which don't count against the cap) that could go upto 4 mill. He will sign once his physical is past. This is a pretty big rumour, and I've heard these numbers mostly from the Fan590, which is sketchy at best, but it kind've depends on whether its a fan exclusive rumour (mostly BS) or whether its making the rounds. I believe SNet has it up as well.

The only problem I see is they've recieved 3 D. It would've been nice for them to grab a forward.

They really needed help on D though if Pronger left. This really helps shore up the defense and gets them younger. A forward would have been nice but, Brewer and Wyowitka for a guy they couldn't afford isn't bad.

With him in net and Crosby on offense it could be a deadly combo, sometimes it feels like crosby is overrated I guess we'll never know untill his first year. I think Hatcher to Philly is great, they need some D after they let Desjardiens (SP?) go.
