Ribeiro would more likely be a trade than a buyout in my mind.

Few Sites. It'll be tied into them getting another center. Modano, Turgeon have been rumoured. They are apperantly putting a a package together for Crosby, but even Gainey said theres almost no chance they'll accept it. They fully expected Lecavalier to come next year as well.

New Toronto Rumours: Foppas agent was in the city yesterday, but nobody really knew. Apperantly he and Nassy would be willing to take huge paycuts to play with a contender, both would like to play with Sundin, but I believe playing with eachother is their main focus, Sundin would just be icing on that cake. LeClair will be here or Boston to play with Lindros or Thornton.

Not a big surprise considering how well they get along. Ribeiro doesn't seem like Bob Gainey's type of player but he's popular locally.

I heard about Nazzy wanting to play with Sundin as well. Looks like Toronto might have an older, but intersting team next year.

Its a youth movement when you consider us before. I don't know if I consider them old. I mean 31... is old now? Players are playing into their 40's and major contribors into their late 30s. I agree guys like Niewy and Roberts are "old" Leetch and Belfour as well, but a 31 and 32 year old considered old? You can wear your age a bit differently, like Nolan Vs. Sundin (Nolans a year younger), but neither of these guys fit that bill. You could make a case for Foppa though.

I don't know Theo. Adding Forsberg and Naslund at 31 and 32. I can't really say I'd consider it an over the hill team. with the team being made up of mostly 30+ players. Most players don't crack the NHL till mid 20's, then it takes a few years to break that. Those are all of the signed players too, theres a handful of RFAs that lower it. I can't see anybody signing Naslund and Foppa, when they have a good core, saying its a bad move, or even becoming old.

Don't they already have 3 or 4 young to young veteran goalies in the system? A lot of the rumors are seriously out of whack, especially in Pitt. If they signed 1/4 of the guys rumored to go there, they would be well over the cap.

I think they're going to sign a veteran goaltender, let Chiodo and Caron split the time in WBS. Probably someone at the end of the line like an Osgood.

They honestly don't need much, but I do think they should find a couple of veterans capable of winning faceoffs and playing a little defense when they actually do have a lead.

Aucoin? He had a Very good to great season last year and will demand big money...I would geuss a little over 4 million. And the Isles will get into a bidding match with whoever wants him anyways, they can't afford to lose him.

I'm a Yankees fan, I have no problems with my team using some swing to get a team to grossly overpay for somebody, especially with the cap. If Aucoin is going to command 4mil then hell, better off just going after one of the players the Avs won't be able to keep.

Recchi - Malkin - Kovalev

I'd lock up Kovalev now with them. They obviously just got a bit better from the draft and the oppurtunity for him to break in a great Russian star while Lemieux can bring up crosby? Works out perfectly. I believe they should trade Cheodo now, he won't be anything with them. They are committed to MA Fleury. He is a capable starter, share the wealth and get some help at D.

Langs is apperantly a buy-out candidate for the Wings. With Stevie Y and Datsyuk, you can't pay a 3rd liner Lang type $. This is what we are hearing in Toronto. Also heard the Leafs are going after Foppa hard as of Aug. 1. I'm just waiting for my Fernandez for Nolan rumour to pick up :)

I thought Morozov signed a contract in Russia for more than he made with the Pens last time and had no plans to come back. At one point there was talk the Pens were going to expect him to take a pay cut.

Speaking of Datsyuk. I remeber there was a thread not to long ago, about him staying in Russia this season. Anyone know if that is still the case?
