05 Graf Skates

I havent been posting as actively lately, so delete this if it has already been mentioned.

I reccently purchased a pair of new Graf 735s, the new edition with the silver lining and cobra holders that come standard. At first I thought this was just a special edition 735 that offers the same boot without the t-blades, using a new colour style (like the 502 special edition with t-blades). But then i noticed that the standard 502 skate for this year also had a silver design. Turns out that all of Grafs skates for this year are going to be revamped, and the lining is going to be made of a silver chlorino material that is stamped to give it a weave texture. The 735 i purchased also used a new fiberglass/composite sole compared to Graf's standard plastic soles (excluding the G series).

Has anyone else tried the new 735s with the composite sole, and is there any other word on Grafs new products for the year? Theyve been relatively quit. Oh yeah, they are also discontinuing the 6xx series, so those skates are on closeout. Sorry if this was all already mentioned before. Ill try to get a picture up if people dont know what im talking about

Yeah. If you look on the website Graf they have changed over a bunch of skates in their aesthetic design. I think what has happened also is that graf is making their models available to all countries, unlike when you could only get some models in europe and others in North America. I like the change over...shows that graf is going after the skate wearers who like a skate that performs and looks nice too. IMO the old skates did look really nice too. i really like the 705's new look. really nice with the silver on the back...possibly my next pair of skates. B)

However, that is the website for GRAF Switzerland not GRAF Canada. Apparently GRAF Canada doesn't care about a web presence as they have been without a website for months.

They're replacing the 735s for sure and same with the 502's

if your 735s have a clear outsole its the new one. its still plastic just the added some material to give it a cosmetic appearance like easton did a couple years ago. the 735s are still around both with and without t-blade and the 502s come in 3 colours, the black, the silver and white. the white being with t-blades

those things are p-i-m-p! i remember seeing a guy out this way wearing them at a camp a couple weeks back in the city, and just thought that they were customs.

I really dont like the look either. I was dissapointed when I first saw it, but the 735s are the only skate that really fit my foot right now. They've kind of grown on me since though, I dont mind them as much. But the traditional black on Graf is still the way to go. Silver and yellow just doesnt look right.

This may have already been mentioned, or I may have missed it while reading, but it appears as though the soles aren't what you might think. Graf will be starting (or already started) adding a new option, a new plastic sole. This new one is clear, and they add a felt-like material on the inside to give it a similar look to carbon. Obviously it isn't the same carbon sole as on the G-Series. I may be wrong about this skate in perticular, however what I just described is going to be a new sole added to Graf skates. From far they look just like carbon, but the colour is a little lighter. Holding them up close, it's obvious that the plastic (or whatever they use) is clear. I've seen it first hand, and it looks kind of neat in person. I was under the impression that these new 735s come with the regular carbon sole, but the reason I brought this up is because the design on the bottom of the sole made me remember the new ones. Either way, just some info if it hadn't been mention yet.

I want to join this club. Black 700 series Graf's are some of the cleanest looking boots around.

We must be in the minority though cuz I don't see many people in Graf's. Then again I'm in our country's tiniest state.

I'm quite happy they didn't change the 709's. I love the look of the 709 with the silver G in the tendon guard.

Your right about the sole. I thought it was carbon at first, however i remember the salesman said it was almost a fiberglass material that gives it the clear look. I'll let you guys now how the skates are after tuesday, im missing my first 2 days of training camp because im out of town :(.

EDIT - i think something more important than the aesthetics that hasnt been talked about much is the 735s finally come standard with cobras. I was really happy about htis because i was a bit tired of t-blades, and i think its great graf is giving people more options.
