Sean Avery's monthly diatribe

Oh, well, thank you for explaining that to a third world legal doctorand. If this is so, I wonder why the U.S. still incarcerate numerous Afghans in Guantanamo Bay after several years without trial, verdict and without even giving them access to a lawyer.

Now that you say it, I'm sure that Laraque just made up that n.... story. Laraque should really shut up.

They're guilty :D

As far as Laraque goes, you tell me, do you believe that it happened? Why would the story have surfaced the next day, and not that night? If it truly happened, the story would have been news immediately after the game.

And you´re ignorant.

Anyway. I´m pretty sure Avery is capable of that but I wonder if it really happened why didn´t Laraque just smack the crap out of him? Maybe Laraque didn´t want to whine about it and didn´t tell anyone maybe just a teammate or trainer after the game or so and it surfaced with the media that way? Pure guessing, though.

And with my smile, I meant it as a joke, idiot.

On your second part, you're right, why didn't he beat the crap out of him?

"Maybe Laraque didn´t want to whine about it and didn´t tell anyone maybe just a teammate or trainer after the game or so and it surfaced with the media that way?"

So it became a big deal the next morning? He had to go to the hotel and think about what Avery allegedly said? Come on now...who's the ignorant one here?

I didn´t get it that way.......guess I am an idiot indeed. How you can joke about a topic like that is beyond me anyway...

No, no. All I am suggesting is that someone around Laraque might have made it public the next day. Pure guessing as I said.

I was at the game, 6 rows up behind the Kings bench (next to the tunnel) and I seriously doubt Avery called Laraque a "monkey" (that is reportedly what was said). We sure as hell didn't hear anything. And Laraque was actually pretty calm the whole time.

I truly believe that Laraque would have gone crazy and attacked Avery had he said such a thing, especially since they were face to face when the alleged incident took place.

Sean may be a little prick out there, but he's not a racist. I've met him a couple times and he is a really nice kid. His role on the ice is to agitate, and he does it well.

Laraque has never been one to cry wolf in the past but I am surprised that he didn't resolve the matter on his own during the game. That said, the proper way to handle this would to not make a huge deal out of it on the spot and report it to the league, exactly what it appears he did in this case.

Without any additional witnesses hearing Avery, the NHL has to give him a pass on this. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next matchup between these teams.

Instigator rule? Without it...he might have.

I like sean avery, he makes me laugh.

Please....the only good thing that guy has ever done is bang Rachel Hunter.

Theo, just saw an interview with George...he said since "the Bertuzzi thing" he thinks before he reacts...but, yeah...to walk away from a slurr like that...good on him, I woulda lost it.

Sean's won his share of fights and he's still young. He'll win plenty more. If you want to look at a guy who no longer wins fights, look no further than former King Ian Lapperiere. The last couple years he was in LA, we used to cringe when he would drop 'em because we always knew he was going to get tuned.

We called it "Kelly Buchberger Syndrome."

By the way, and just my opinion...I call bullsh*t on this.

If this TRULY did happen...you would have heard about it immediately after the game, in the post game interviews, in all of the write ups of the game.

Sean Avery using a racial slur against Georges Laraque, especially with Avery's comments of two weeks ago, would have been immediately HUGE...not the next morning!

Actually Laraques reported it immediatly after the game to the oilers. They spoke about it on wens. night during an intermission of the tsn game. I can't think of one rational reason why Laraques would make this up.

Here's what I've gathered from seeing parts of the game and the incident

Avery supposedly called George a "Monkey"

Avery got eaten in this game after he hammered Smith. Laraques was apperantly involved.

George reported the "slur" after the game

It went to the NHL, who said no Evidence, George agreed to let it slide

Then goes on the radio the next day with the Fan590 and says it happened?

Sounds weird to me. Did Avery supposedly say this after he got filled in or before? If George wanted to accuse him, he shouldn't have has assed it and tip-toed around, he should've went for it.

Who was the other player that complained of a racial slur being used? I thought it was Laraque as well, but I could be wrong.

I remember the Mcarthy interview. "Then he called me a B and then an N". I know its bad but I just had to laugh at the site of a huge guy like that telling on someone like hes 6.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Avery was notified on Thursday that the league was fining him $1,000 for an alleged dive in a November 3 game against the Phoenix Coyotes

The league shouldn't notify players 8 days later, regardless of who they are. Have you ever gotten a ticket for speeding 8 days after the fact? NO!

I'm glad they are monitoring all the games and catching the offenses that the game officials missed. 8 days does seem to be a lot of time though, I would like to see the notification issued within 72 hours.

As for the speeding analogy, in a number of places they use cameras to snap pictures of speeders and mail the tickets to their homes. There have been a number of problems with the units and there are numerous court cases regarding them. Yeah I know it's off topic, but what the hell. :D

Isn't the issue that they cannot prove who the driver is?

In some cases, yes. There is also the usual accuracy (speed and correct vehicle) concerns plus some lawyers argue the defendants really cannot face their accuser in a court of law as no officer is generally on-site to verify that the machine is ticketing the correct vehicles.

There was a guy in the philly area who almost had his license revoked because he was not paying his fines for going too fast through the turnpike E-Z Pass lanes. They were mistaking his plate for JRs. Evidently the people never looked at the pics very closely because his car looked nothing like Roenick's little black coupe. He passed me once when I was down that way, or at least someone in his car did. I was doing 75 in a 55 and I saw a blur go by me with a license plate that said "styles".

haha yeah, that guy I'm pretty sure had an f-150 with styles as his plates. JR was still driving around the area in his styles arizona plates. JR ended up paying all the fines and gave the guy a bunch of stuff and tickets.
