Pro's and their skate blade specs?

Recommended Posts

i know what a hollow is, but whats a radius? i hear its like the circumerfence of the circle that would be formed (in feet) if the blade continued on its rocker. is this true? does this mean that a higher number is a flatter blade? and a lower number, ie gretzky, is more roundish?

I skate on 3/4 and will try to go to 1 in the next 6-8 weeks, would this be possible? like if I sharpen my skates once a week, and I change the hollow each and each time to approach 1 in 6-8 weeks.

Again would it be an easy change?

Definately possible.

I also heard Gretz was on a 7ft.

All these fractions are giving me a headache With such precise measures millimetres would be much easier!

Well if you guys would just join the rest of the world and use feet and inches like the rest of us it wouldn't be a problem. Oh wait, nevermind. ;)

An athlete who is is top physical shape and form can make up for the losses. For example, many NHLrs skate on 3/8 which would make the average player die of exhaustion after about 10 strides (overemphasized to make point). Speed comes from two places, leg strength and hollow.
