RBK helmet with red graphics?

Recommended Posts

I thought on the RBK helmets you can get the inside almost any color. I called my LHS and they said they would look into it for me. I want to get a black helmet with the other part red since my team colors are black red and white. Any help would be appreciated, thanks guys.

There are many retail colors, just the options for red and limited to red/sil/ That's it. I'm sure the pros can get any color subshell they want.

Can you change the subshell?

You can EASILY change the inner color of your Reebok helmet.

How do I know?? Because my silver composite looking graphics came falling out of the left left of my helmet.

It's just a plastic painted piece that's hot glued to the sub shell.

Looks like I can't get the black with red grapics, o well black on black will still look pretty sweet. The college team in my town has yellow with purple graphics, it looks really sharp...

Why don't you just remove the black that is in there now and spray paint the inserts a glossy red...then glue them back in?

is the subshell attached to the foam? if it is, I wouldn't spraypait it because the chemicals in spraypaint can melt some styrofoams. You wouldn't want that! If you can totally remove the subshell from the foam then go ahead, otherwise I'd do it by hand.

ok if you do that you might aswell just take off your csa/hecc sticker off the back of it because your putting things on it and using a glue that isnt CSA/HECC certified so if anything happens to that helmet if it cracks or anything its your fault, the company wont replace it neither will the store because you did something too it that is not authorized by the company or CSA/HECC

HAha when you get to be 35+ you've long since stopped worrying about HECC certified! =)

I was in the Pens locker room last night and was able to look at Sid's helmet up close. It honestly looks like they either painted or took a sharpie over the silver.

I do recall somewhere where it says something about customizing the sub-shell or mix and match sub-shells or something like that.

It's not a true customization, you basically have several combo's to choose from, Take the basic color helmet (red, navy, royal, maroon, black&white)and get either white, blk, or silver subshell. So for retail, you can't for example get a black helmet with a green subshell, either black or silver. I ordered every combo they had available, but never got the gold or green helmets. I also ordered smalls, which I recently received notice that they would not be producing this year.

you don't need a certified helmet in NCAA rules.

Sorry to bring a RIDICULOUSLY old topic back to the top, but it's better than starting a new thread, so:

Does anyone have any directions/tips for removing the subshell from the 8k? Just playing around with the helmet a little, it seems like the foam is too brittle to endure any sort of "coaxing." I was thinking a bit of heat might soften the glue enough to slide the subshell(s) out...anyone with experience?
