Bauer 4000 helmet size

Recommended Posts

Hi

I've got a 4000 helmet in size L (wich is slightly too big but i got it realy cheap, so i hot glued some extra foam in to make it fit ..). Now i bought a new visor but somehow it doesnt fit ... the helmet seems to big.

So would the bauer 4000 in size M actually have a smaller shell or has it just thicker foam?

And do you know if the bauer 3000 in M has the same shell size as the 4000 M? The foam seems bigger, so maybe if i buy a 3000 in M ill end up having the same problem because the shell is as big as the 4000 L size?

I believe (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) that the 3000 and 4000 are virtually identical in all areas and aspects EXCEPT where it comes to the foam. I think the 4000's foam is supposed to be higher quality (fancy dual density or something). SO, fit should be the same too, unless the foam is thicker.

How much did you get it for? Mine finally broke and I liked the way it fit. I had considered buying a new one, except thought that at the price $40-50) it was more worth my while to buy a used Bauer 8000. If I ever see one for $20-30 I might pick one up as a back up.

I don't think a helmet is something I could buy used, someone else's sweaty head on top of mine..49.99 for a 4000 is a good deal...if you don't like the fit check the HC95 by Itech

It depends on the bucket. The ones with the soft foam I might be able to see your point. However, the fancier ones like the Itech 100 or Bauer 8000 doesn't have any padding that absorbs moisture (enclosed gel packs and some weird styrofoam looking padding).

However, the 4000 has been around for something like 10 years? And it still sells for $50 even with it's outdated tech? Seems there are better offerings for the money.

I realy like the 4000 fit compared to our team issued ccm 452, but i never tried 5000/8000 though ...

I got my unused 4000 as a pro return for 20€ but as said above it is size L .. i can use it with the minor peaces of extra foam i hot-glued in, but i want to use my new visor wich would fit if the shell was just a little bit smaller!

So i thought a 3000 or 4000 in M would help (size-wise for my head and for the visor).

Are you using an Oakley visor? Unless you use a longer screw and some spacers like Itech ships with the HS22 visors, the visor will pull the helmet away from your head at the temples. You may have a similar problem with the 4000 or 3000 in medium.

i have an oakley visor and on my 5000 it pulled on the temples really bad but on my 4000 it really didnt seem to. i can say that the oakley visor seems to be a lot better on a medium 4000 than a large though because on the large i had to have the visor pulled out all the way and it still seemed too close to my face but with the medium you can actually make it really far away from your face, too far actually so i put the screws in the middle portion of the slots.

No, its an Ortema visor (i think its allmost unknown in america) i have to use spacers anyway but the problem is the length as nspeen said! So than a size medium should help, i think! But do you know if the 3000 M shell is identical to the 4000 M shell?

Ok, i got the 4000 in size M, and length-wise the visor fits nice but as chadd said it pulls the helmet apart.

Can anyone tell me how those spacers look like (maybe someone has a picture?) and what material they are of? And how thik are those?

Hmm i tried it with some selfmade spacers wich actualy worked, but now i can move the visor up and down a bit ..

So maybe i will just return the visor and get one that fits without spacers.

Do you have any suggestions on a visor that will fit a medium 4000 without spacers and wont pull it apart?
